Best gun-related purchase I ever made
I have been using these for 3 years of shooting at the range, in club competitions and all-day firearm training classes. Probably something on the order of 500 hours. Hands-down, this is the best gun-related purchase I ever made. These protected my ears perfectly well in these situations: - Pistol, rifle or shotgun - Up to 20 other people shooting on the same line next with me - Outdoors in the open - Outdoors under an awning - Indoors IF the range is well designed and built (surfaces have good sound absorbing material) These did NOT protect adequately (hurt my ears) in these environments: - In any indoor space which is not specifically designed to absorb gunshot sound (this was an indoor range, but not very well designed/built) - Shooting from inside a vehicle In those two situations, you should probably double up with foam earplugs and big earmuffs anyway. These come with small, medium and large rubber eartips, as well as the foam ones. The foam ones worked well, but wore out quickly. You can buy the "Skull Screws", but don't bother unless you are using the large eartips. I could not fit them in my ear canals. The battery on these lasts a LONG time. After 3 years, I can still use them for a 8-9 hour day and they have never gone dead on me. There is no battery in the case, but you can get yourself a little portable battery pack (like for cell phones) or use any USB charger. I am not complaining, I love how tough the case is, I am pretty sure it would hold my weight if I stood on it. The electronics have 3 volume settings: low, med and high. I find that the low setting is slightly below my normal hearing level and the medium allows me to hear slightly better than normal. For ear safety, it does not really matter which you have selected, the amplifier simply shuts off if a loud noise is detected. The electronics are OK, but not great. They are a little too eager to clamp down on the noise, in my opinion anyway. It gets annoying when you are trying to hear the instructor and they are shooting on a nearby range. That level of sound would not normally be a problem, but your volume level is constantly jumping up and down because the earbuds are trying to protect you. I DO love these things. - I can comfortably wear them all afternoon for a class and generally hear the instructor perfectly while everyone else is taking their hot earmuffs off every chance they get. - I don't have to worry about earmuffs not getting a good seal around my ears due to my hat, hair or safety glasses, earbuds just bypass all that. - I don't have to fight with them when trying to get a good cheek weld, they are tucked in nicely. - They stay in place very well, I have never had them loosen or fall out. I just wish they were not so pricey.

Expensive but they work. It’s 3M.
After tons of Internet research, I selected these 3M earplugs for their extremely high ratings and ease of use in the field while hunting. Upon arrival I plugged them in to recharge, and unfortunately, one of them would not recharge. I reached out to Amazon for a return, and they quickly sent me a new set. Amazon always gets an A+ for customer service. The new ones work like they’re supposed to. You hit the big button and it turns on and you tap it and it lets more sound in. They’re comfortable to the point you almost forget they’re in your ears. By the way, there’s an accessory attachment you can purchase online for a few bucks that links both of them with a string that you can put around your neck so if one falls out of your ear, it should stick around.

These Are Great For Hunting
Six month review. I have been trying all kinds of hearing protection for hunting for years now. Without going into detail on everything I tried, I'll sum it up by saying it all didn't offer good protection or was too uncomfortable for longer periods of wear. I kept going back to plain old foam plugs, which worked fine for protection, but deadening sound while hunting is kinda counterproductive. When I saw these Peltors, I did some research. I realize that 3M has a "not for shooting" disclaimer for them, but I just didn't see any data that showed them to be inferior to the Peltor "tactical" plugs, so took a chance. I have been very happy with these. They are the most comfortable in-ear earpro that I have found. I used them all through goose season, and they cut shotgun sound, no problem. I'm currently thinning out the rockchucks on my property and have been wearing them in conjunction with my silenced AR (silenced .223 still requires earpro). They work just perfect, and the hearing amplification is perfect for hearing incoming geese or rockchuck whistling. While I wouldn't personally use these for long range sessions and default to my Sordin muffs, I have used these for quick "mag or two" pistol sessions on the pistol range I have on my property. As far as NRR, I have weird ear canals, and I cannot get the skull screws to seal well, nor are they comfortable for me. I actually get a better seal with the medium standard plugs that are included with the Earpro. Executive Summary: Pros: Very comfortable, good seal with the right inserts, good amplification for ambient noise, good, fast cutoff for dangerous noise levels, good battery life. Cons: My only con with these is the tones used for the single button that controls on/off and amplification levels. The "off" tone is way too similar to the low amplification tone, and I have to find a quiet area to turn them off so that I can verify that they're actually off and not on "low". Anyway, for me, these were a good buy for my uses and for the ~$200 they run, I can recommend them, especially with the next closest similar earpro seeming to run double or more.

Earbud mic failed
I bought these for every day construction work because I was tired of having to yell and ask people to speak up because I couldn’t hear them over my foam plugs. I had high hopes because I use other peltor products for shooting my guns. But if you know how loud a nail gun is up close then you will understand wearing plugs all day. I love how well the mics picked up low sound and cut the to loud sounds. Two of my coworkers were standing 40 feet away and I heard their voices over the other noises. I could clearly hear my boss talking to me while the mics cut the blast of a nail gun out ten feet away. But, they are also somewhat uncomfortable , they rub your ears pretty deep. But the real bummer was when the one earbud mic failed after 3 weeks of use. I’m unsure why because they were never dropped or smacked. They worked well when they worked, but I’m pretty disappointed. I returned to try other brands.

Extraordinary
I shoot a short barrel 308 with a brake, that's bad. My range is arranged so that rifle shooters must shoot through a 6ft box in order to keep blast contained so that lanes on either side are shielded, that's worse. Mostly because the blast is then funneled back to the shooter. It's much akin to tossing a flash bang grenade in a barrel and sticking your head in there. Now, muffs suck... they get in the way of attaining a good cheek weld sometimes and make putting on and maintaining level glasses a real pain in the ass all of the time. They're also hot and generally uncomfortable. So, I was in the market for a good set of electronic plugs but holy cow these things range in price into the thousands. Came across the EEP-100's and did a bit of digging. Most reviews were positive, some not so much. I figured what the hell, I'll give them a shot. Upon receiving them I chose the foam plugs, put them in and turned up the stereo with the plugs turned off. I then took them out and put on my current muffs, also turned off. The EEP-100's were considerably quieter, that surprised me. Okay so the base noise suppression is better with the plugs but how will the electronics function? Well, I went to the range today and the verdict is.... bloody outstanding. This was one of the best range days that I've had and it was completely due to these plugs. I had a conversation with a fellow standing directly behind another guy who was running an SBR... remarkable. My shots through the tunnel, while extremely concussive, were a comfortable noise level. Again, this was with the supplied foam tips. Apparently the skull screw tips are even better, we shall see. So, if you shoot and are fed up muffs.... just buy these. They are extraordinary.

Good but Short Life-Span 👎🏼
I used these for approx 2 years as a firefighter for training and drills. In total I would estimate approx 100-150 hours of actual operation during the time I had them. The Good: They worked very well and were comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. They never interfered with my gear and stayed in place. The case was very durable and I never had an issue. The Bad: For the money, these are not easy to just replace when they stop working. These need to last for a long time in my opinion. One of the earbuds stopped turning on consistently after about 1 year. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t. Usually after letting the earbuds charge up all the way it would start working again. After about 1.5 years, out of nowhere, one of the earbuds only worked at about 50% volume. It was very quiet compared to the other one. Nothing I did could remedy this. Because of the low volume out of the one earbud it made conversations at normal noise levels difficult and even gave me headaches after awhile because of one ear feeling plugged while I could hear through the other. ** I reached out to 3M multiple times and never received a response of any kind from customer service. Product support seems nearly non-existent. Final Verdict: They’re too expensive for the short lifespan and poor customer service. I’ll be switching to Earasers Earplugs for a cheaper, analog version that don’t rely on electronic parts that can fail.

Excellent product for the price
I am certain that the more expensive 3M earplugs are exceptional products. (I intend to buy the top of the line tactical earplugs, too, at some point down the road.) These worked perfectly well. I have used them both by themselves and in conjunction with the "Howard Leight by Honeywell Impact Pro High Noise Reduction Rating Sound Amplification Electronic Shooting Earmuff" for added protection. The 3M works perfectly well by itself. The 23 db rating is less than solid foam ear plugs, though, and the experienced range officers that I have seen wear both ear plugs and ear muffs (which only makes sense, given the shear volume of noise to which they are exposed.) The 3M Peltor fits well under the earmuffs, too, so you can, if you want, gain the advantage of extra noise cancellation while still retaining the ability to hear ambient sounds. I will say one thing: the experience of hearing the attenuated shot is distinctly odd. The microphone (particularly with the ear muff-style noise protection) cancels out the initial sound so that I found I was hearing the tail-end of the shot _after_ I had pulled the trigger. It was not a problem. It did take some getting used to.

Excellent noise suppression for work & firing line hearing
I use these for work in factories, shooting both pistol and rifle, and on occasion, hearing aids. These do not provide "noise cancellation" like Bose QC35 headphones or the like - they suppress noise like ear plugs. Though I haven't checked them against a calibrated dB sound meter, my sense is they clip noise at just below 80dB. Directional hearing is great, the three level sound amplification works great, and if the battery dies, they work just like the orange foam plugs. I use the bubble ear inserts that came with them and also the Skull Skrews. I've used them so much, I've worn out three pair of inserts. Trick here: be gentle on removal and reattachment of the ear inserts. The things are small and clumsy application of force can mean a broken ear bud. The skull skrews, if you don't slip them on properly, can partially block the sound channel and muffle the sound in that ear. Hard to adjust to, but not a show stopper if you're too busy or your hands too dirty to adjust the insert. The charger box is great. I also have a charger from a dead set of TEP-100s, and that works too.

Great for industrial enviroments, reccomended by a heavy duty mechanic.
My ears damage more easily than most peoples. Loud noises that don't bother other people will cause my ears to ring. Unfortunately I ended up as a heavy duty mechanic, so I work in an environment that can get loud very quickly and without warning. Compressed air, large engines, power/air tools are commonplace in my work environment, and I hate the inconvenience of taking on/off ear protection, plus sometimes a colleague will start making noise without giving any warning. I have worn these 3M earplugs for 5 full 8 hour work days. The first day I noticed a lot whenever the attenuation kicked in for loud noises. The more I wore them, the less I noticed it and adapted. Some noises like outside wind can be bothersome occasionally, but the vast majority of the time these work as intended. I'll just have to be careful about not losing/damaging them. I can now go into work without fearing that my hearing will be damaged. I highly recommend these to anyone with sensitive hearing who works in an industrial environment.

They work well, but buy extra tips.
These took a little getting used to. In order for the noise cancelling and the microphone to work properly, they have to form a tight seal with your ear canal, and none of the provided tips did the job without hurting like crazy after an hour. I ordered the "skull screw" replacement tips (costs extra), and the difference is extreme. They took a few days to get used to with the new tips, but they work incredibly well and I can wear them for extended hours around heavy machinery with very little discomfort. I usually don't even bother taking them out when I'm in the cab of the truck. Talking with coworkers with them in isn't an issue. All in all, very happy with em, but It would sure be nice if the "skull screw" tips were included, rather than buying them separately in the hope they work better than what's provided.

Works well so far
I have high noise sensitivity. I purchased for mainly loud work environment. I have been testing at home and gym fir a few days so far. It does attenuate loud noise at home while doing dishes or closing covers/doors etc. and at the gym when someone drops their dumbells or release handles and weights drops hard on equipment. I hear background noise at the gym clearly even with low mode with 27db NRR eartips. I wish it attenuate music a bit more, but at least it automatically reduce annoying noise, so im glad about that. I don't feel much difference between Medium and high modes. So far so good. Hopefully I can hear people better with this product than regular industrial earplugs at work. That was main reason I purchased.
