A great replacement for the defrost heater
Update: 9/7/2020Note: I do not recommend using the sensor provided in this kit. Although I did check it to confirm it changing resistance with temperature; however,It did not function within the temp range accepted by the computer in my GE fridge and it took me months and two manual defrost to figure out what happened. Re-installing the original sensor fixed the problem. The limit switch in this kit seems to work OK! Don't do like me and induce a new problem. When a major alliance malfunctions, it disrupts our daily lives frequently to the point total frustration.Nothing better demonstrates this as when a refrigerator goes off line. The possibility of loosing hundreds of dollars in food is scary enough but then add in the potential costs to repair or replace a major appliance can be quite daunting especially if you have a fixed income like me.It all comes down to time and money $$$ not to mention trying to find a reputable (honest) repair person or dealer (to replace).Frequently, my best option is to do a repair myself. With a little research on YouTube, it is easy to find help with all sorts of diagnosis and repair. With a little mechanical ability, many repairs are actually very simple. All one needs is the right part, at the right time, at a fair price and a little self-confidence.When everything comes together and a good repair can be accomplished, one has the good feeling of a tangible accomplishment. These part(s) was received on time and in good condition. They were well packed with no excess or waste of materials. The defrost heater, thermistor and limit switch were exact replacements of the original parts and were a perfect fit. The heater fit the refrigerator mounting exactly and was installed in few minutes. I soldered the limit switch and thermistor in place using lead free solder and heat shrink tubing to protect the connection. (I am not a fan of the wire nut or crimp connectors in the harsh environment of the freezer)I protected the connection with a good grade of electrical tape and then used zip ties to suspend the joints above the evaporator and away from the fan motor and blade as to be out of any ice that could accumulate to mitigate any thermal or mechanical stressesThe entire repair took about an two hours including the defrost time to remove the ice accumulation on the evaporator using a fan and a hair dryer. The refrigerator was plugged in and it started up normally. The freezer started to cool instantly and all fans were working. Within a few hours, the refrigerator was totally back to normal operations so not only did the parts fit correctly, they apparently function just like the original parts. As far a durability and longevity, only time will tell. I will update this review if any part fails outside of specifications.I recommend these replacement parts and would purchase them again. Thanks Amazon for your recommendation.(photos are before repairs showing the ice damn on the evaporator)

Fridge freezer is working again.
My 2004 GE Profile PSS26NGPA fridge's freezer had been acting weird for months, with wild temperature swings up to 15 degrees (when set for zero degrees). Researching at PartSelect, I learned that the 3 most common causes of "freezer section too warm" for this side-by-side fridge are: 1) Defrost Thermostat - 43% of the time; 2) Temperature Sensor - 25% of the time; 3) Master Control Board - 13% of the time. Since a replacement control board is at least $130 here on Amazon, I bought this inexpensive set of parts to see if replacing them would solve the problem. It was a nightmare getting the freezer's panel off to expose the coils - watching YT videos I saw that later/other GE models were designed to make it easy to remove the racks and pull out the panel. There was some ice on the coils so I let it defrost naturally into some towels while changing the parts. Very glad I installed the Defrost Heater (which wasn't one of the 3 top parts listed above), because the glass tube surrounding the old heater coil was frosted and gray on the ends, whereas the replacement tube was completely clear glass. It was a bit of a pain installing the other two parts - needed to cut and splice the wires from the originals - but working carefully while following video instructions made it happen. After getting everything back together I plugged the fridge in. It took the freezer compartment about 3 hrs to get from 69 degrees to 25, then overnight to return to zero. Then I moved frozen food back in from ice chests. Over the following 36 hrs the freezer temp did rise again at one point to 13 degrees. Dreading I'd have to replace the control board, I unplugged the fridge for about a half-hour then replugged it in, to see if that might re-set the control board again.Since then (about a week ago) the freezer temp has climbed no higher than 5 degrees. A couple days ago I pulled off the rear screen to check the evaporator pan and saw water in it, so the heater is doing its job. Unless the temp starts climbing (and staying) again above 10 degrees, I'm going to consider this repair a cost-effective success.

It's work but it only last less than a year. I believe this is my third one .

Saved me a LOT of money on a repair.
If you are mechanically/electrically inclined and are having ice buildup in your GE refrigerator, this is most likely the solution. What I REALLY like about this "kit" of replacement parts is that it contains the 3 components that are likely to be the problem of ice buildup / not defrosting. The cost of the complete kit is less than one of the factory OEM parts. Add to that the cost of servicing the refrigerator, and you can see that this MORE than pays for itself. There are videos on youtube on on defrost problems and replacement of the thermister and defrost thermostat and heater. You replace 3 components and you have likely solved your problem.Make sure your freezer fan is operating as that can also be a problem.I am SO grateful to have found this parts group. I feel that I saved a few hundred dollars on a service call and repairs. You will need to use a blow dryer to defrost the ice buildup on the cooling elements, when you work on the refrigerator. This is probably the most time consuming part of the job. If you understand basic electric wire connections, the rest is pretty easy. Again it helps to watch a few videos on the subject. Watch a few. Some are better than others. These should get you through the basics.MY refrigerator is working well again and for under 25 bucks. You cant beat that.
