How To Raise An Amazing Child the Montessori Way

Inspiring
My daughter was enrolled in a Montessori school for kindergarden and we both had a good experience with the school. She was excited to go to school every morning and she learned so much with out any effort from our side. So I was eager to know more about the montessori way of learning and if I can apply some of it at home on my 2 years old. This book is very inspiring, It has just enough information paired with beautiful images of children at work to get you inspired and start playing with your child. I especially liked the section on how to design a room for your child or how to include your kids in the design of your living/family room. This part is often ignored in parenting books yet it makes a big difference for out little ones. The information and activities in this book is suitable for kids 2 and half to six years of age, if you got a child who is younger or older than this range then you may not find this book useful. In my case, I will need to wait a bit longer before I can apply the suggested activities on my toddler. This book is for you if you are already a bit familiar with the montessori philosophy and you just want to get inspired. However, if you want to know more in-depth about the montessori way of teaching then my guess is that you would need to ready more than this book.

Well Done Intro Level Montessori Book
I am the Head of School of a small Montessori school in Florida and I was recommended this book by another Head of School as a great book to give to parents of newly enrolled students. I often have parents ask me about which Montessori books to read. I have read many of Dr. Maria Montessori 's classic texts and found them to be very dense and neuroscience focused (e.g. the first half of The Absorbent Mind is enough to put many laypersons to sleep). Its not that the information isn't good, its just not immediately applicable, concise, and convenient for parents of young children who have very little free time to read.I just finished this book and love it! There is fantastic information in an easy to digest format. I have chosen this book to give to all of my families for the coming school year as an introduction to Montessori education and how to set up your child's at home environment to match what we do at school. We will be discussing the book throughout the school year at our parent workshops. Very excited to get this started!

A lovely book with fantastic pictures!
Published in recent years, it is one of the newer Montessori books on the market. This is a lovely book, with fantastic pictures and very well designed. (I would buy it just for the photos!) It is an easy read, and only 186 pages. It is also Montessori at home friendly. It covers much of what you want to know about Montessori education with a simple, in-a-nut-shell style, including: "what is Montessori?"; "the sensitive periods for learning"; Montessori schools (about); Montessori from birth and "your growing baby"; "making your home child-friendly"; a Montessori style nursery; Montessori around the home; "discovery through the senses"; home-made Montessori activities to do and make at home; "keeping the peace" (how to handle negative behavior); Montessori outdoors; and more! This is not a book for Montessori homeschoolers, who want to create a Montessori classroom or unschool environment at home. It is, however, for families who are looking for an alternative and who may be interested in a Montessori lifestyle for the home.

Simple and easy to read
This is a good montessori starting book that gives good tips to allow your kid to start things on his own. There were some things that sound really nice but are not practical on a daily basis...for example, it mentions that as soon as your baby can crawl, you could use a futon instead of a crib so that your baby can crawl herself in/out of bed, which to me didn't make much sense, unless the baby doesn't move much during the night, another thing is that they mention getting small furniture that is fit for little kids, which I think it's ok, for example a child sized table with child sized chairs makes wonders to start your kid into preparing for preschool and transfer from baby to toddler easily. But again, finding a kitchen seat that can allow your child to go in and out whenever he wants might be something hard to find. So in summary, good advice based on montessori fundamentals, which do work, but some suggestions are quite impractical...

Definitely a great book...even for non-Montessorians
This is a great read for anyone who wants guidance on how to raise their children. There are great tips on how to handle issues at bedtime, temper tantrums, and even just what children really need out of their environment. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the book could include more; ideas on what ELSE to give your child when you see a pattern of interest. The book does a decent job in some cases, but I crave more. Perhaps I'm not being fair holding back that 5th star...it's more of a 4.5 star rating :)

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. It is clear and to the point. I saw a few comments about how it was a lot of pictures and not a lot of information. However, as a busy first time mom with no Montessori experience, this is the perfect introduction to Montessori. It presents the basics of Montessori and how to implement them in your life right from birth. It is easy to digest for busy parents who might not have lots of time to read and not overwhelming at a time when you may be getting lots of overwhelming advice, lol! I love it!

Checked out at library and realized I needed my own
Great simple tips and ideas for fostering Independence in your toddler. Kids this age want to help and do everything and this book gives simple examples of ways you can encourage this fun phase of learning. Montessori isn't just a method of teaching kids in a school setting it's really a way of living that allows children to become capable and confident individuals in a safe living environment.

This book would be very useful for someone who wants to know more about the Montessori principles. It is set out in a very clear and practical way and is a great guide to helping young children to become independent and conscientious at an early age. I have studied the Montessori Early Childhood Diploma for older children and worked with 3-5 year olds, but still found this very useful for home life with my toddler.

This book was recommended to me by my sister-in-law who is very much into Montessori stuff. It contains many high-quality photos and describe the ideas of how to organise Montessori-inspired home. Very good practical book.

Started my love with the Montessori Philosophy for Education
I have read several books on Montessori and this was the first one from that list. It's a small and easy read yet covers the core principles of Montessori philosophy quite well. I would strongly recommend this for anyone who isn't familiar with the ideology and wants to get a whiff of what it's all about!
