A DOUBLE FEATURE FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL, NEWLY PRESERVED IN 2K FROM AGFA + SOMETHING WEIRD!SATANIS: THE DEVIL'S MASS is the unseen and unbelievable exposé on Anton LaVey, America's favorite leader of the Church of Satan. Feeling like a bedtime story as told by Kenneth Anger and Russ Meyer, this is a wild glimpse into the witches, black masses, and sex lives that built San Francisco's most infamous cult. From LaVey's daughter (''I think they're nuts!'') to a nude woman who performs a satanic rite with a Boa constrictor, you'll meet numerous proto-goths, midnight maniacs, and daytime Draculas -- and even a pet tiger named Togare! In the words of LaVey, ''There is a beast in man that should be exercised, not exorcised!'' Made by one-and-done filmmakers in the gutters of Tampa, SATAN'S CHILDREN is an Afterschool Special from depths of hell . . . literally. Bobby is a troubled teen with problems. After deflecting his father's insults and his stepsister's come-ons, Bobby unknowingly ends up at a gay bar. Before long, he's sexually assaulted by four guys in the back seat of a car. With nowhere else to turn, Bobby joins a cult of Satanists to enact his murderous revenge. A truly deranged gut-punch, this is a gritty and baffling ''experience''; that could have only happened in Florida.SPECIAL FEATURES2K preservation of SATANIS from a 16mm theatrical print!2K preservation of SATAN'S CHILDREN from a 35mm theatrical print!Sizzling shorts from Beelzebub's vault!Torrid trailers from Lucifer's archive!Reversible cover art!

As interesting a time capsule as it is a documentary on peculiar folk.
I picked this up to watch something weird, and this was that. Though the people behind the cameras tried to make things look hokey at best, the folks engaged in the interviews aren't actors. They're real proto-satanists. The old woman witch who's interviewed makes the whole thing worth it. I'd recommend this to those wanting a window in on the weirder people of the 1969-1970 SanFrancisco era, to Lavey enthusiasts/satanists, or to psych majors. You've got a world of material here.

Best version out there
This is the third time I've bought SATANIS after the first Something Weird VHS release and then their earlier DVD release. This is the best it's looked. I REALLY had been hoping for a commentary track by anyone close to LaVey or even a historian. I think the ball was dropped a bit in terms of additional content which could have been added in regards to the COS, but the movie itself is so essential it's worth the price.

Satanic History 101
History in the making. This film shows the early formation of what is known as Genuine Satanism. The early day’s of Anton Szandor LaVey’s Church of Satan. Not to be confused with the current Gilmore Church of Satan.

Boring!
This could have been a very interesting, very good film. Sadly, the presentation is so slow and so disjointed that, despite a decent amount of valid information, its hard to stay awake through the entire movie.I'd really like to see this done by a competent documentary film team.
