GREAT start!
This is a great book for the new "yogi"! Easy read, easy to understand! My instructor recommended it and she was spot on when she said that it was "honestly one of the best books" for a yoga beginner!

It Works
We are living in an area where yoga is not as popular as it was in the LA we left. So I decided to build my own space in this house and learn the basics of yoga. This YOGA for DUMMIES provides outstanding background into the kinds of yoga, the basic beliefs, and step-by-step instructions in achieving a routine that works for you.The book was useful background for me, and I return to it as I progress through the series of DVDs that I also purchased. Not having a coach on hand to correct postures is definitely a downside to the program. I am still seeking my yoga master to make sure that what I have taught myself is being performed correctly.

Great line of books!
I love this series of books. The insert title for dummies books are always written well and help you to understand the basics of whatever you are trying to learn. I feel as if I now have the basics of yoga and I can always go back and use it as a reference.

Excellent beginners guide to yoga
This is a great introduction to yoga for the beginner, and walks the reader through what yoga is and, more importantly, what it isn't. I have given or recommended this book to dozens of friends who wanted to learn how I stay so agile and able to still surf well into my 60s, and everyone of them found it useful; they have now advanced into more complex asana sequences once they understood the basics.

I truly enjoyed this book
I truly enjoyed this book; it covers all the poses I have learned from my yoga instructor and then some. Having the book available enables me to do my own yoga sessions at home. By practicing my poses more frequently I have been able to get rid of a hip pain which I had for years. The instructions are easy to follow.

Great information. Terrible pictures
I love the infirmary in this book. But it needs nice pictures of the different poses. The lay out is drab and boring. It's time to use color pictures, it's not 1950 anymore.

The book gives you exactly what they offer and maybe more. You will find all the information to start the journey as a yogi. It is really well writtenand easy to understand.

Really Good Information and directions
Really Good Information and directions, breathing techniques have helped me relax already. Gym works on some levels but Yoga seems to work on them all. If you have tried Gym, Medication(s), etc without success try Yoga just sitting still and breathing works anywhere !
