Consider other options before going with this.
I bought this product to self-film my archery hunts. The camera I am using is a Canon Vixia HF g40. I have been using this all season, and now that I have used, I feel I can write a review. I gave it three stars because it does its job, but can definitely be improved. The first and biggest complaint is that the wire's connection the camera when plugged in is very poor. The wires have to be in very specific position in order for it to be able to control the camera. Second, the zooming speed is very slow. No matter how much or how little force I applied the zoom "throttle", it still zooms in slowly, taking 5-10 seconds to be all the way zoomed in, and that can be very costly in the future, as deer sometimes come barreling through. Overall, it does its job, but can be improved.

Might not work with your camera, despite what Varizoom says.
In the product description Varizoom names a few Canon cameras that are not able to take advantage of all the features of this unit. They failed to list mine, the XH-A1, to which half the buttons on this thing do absolutely nothing. I could have bought the regular VZ-Stealth for $30 less and had just as much control.Other than that expensive oversight it's a pretty sweet unit that allows me to control focus, zoom, and rec start/stop while using my Steadicam rig.

Worth the Money, be careful when ship it though
This is Varizoom Stealth Controller (need I say more). both the stealth and rocker series are best for a reason, smooth camera controlls and variable zoom speed at the slight preasure of the controlls. Although please take care when shipping, and do not I repeat DO NOT LEAVE ON THE TRIPOD BEFORE PACKING BACK-UP. You will break your controller faster then you can think that way.

Worth it...
Just took it out of the box, plugged it in and knew it was worth the cost and then some. The next shoot had nothing but smooth camera moves, making the shoot so much easier. To say nothing of having that much more good footage to edit.It's solid, works great and is now an indispensable part of my work.
