Just a fun read
Perfect name for an IRS agent caricature. Alfred is so focused on catching tax cheats that he lacks fundamental human understanding of the situations he finds himself in. If not for his practical assistant he would have failed many times over. I was a little disappointed that all the answers they found seemed to come from Nancy and never from Alfred but by the end he was becoming aware that not all things are black or white. The time travel just gave a fun background for our analyst to adjust to the fact that life is more than the sum of figures on a sheet.

entertaining and engaging
I found this book to be easy to read, quick to draw me in, and engrossing to the end. Because I am a huge fan of time travel fiction, I was totally taken in by those elements; I was also completely invested in the characters and scenes that Ms. Ford developed.I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series!

You can't get away from the tax man
Our hero and heroine work for the IRS and take a field trip to investigate a case of unpaid taxes. When they run into live dinosaurs, things get a bit complicated. This may be hard to believe, but taxmen can be funny, although usually as the butt of a joke. At the basic level, this is a science fiction story involving time travel and all the fun paradoxes that go along with it. And that could be enough for a really fun story, but here we also get a lot of wonderful dry humor to go along with it. Our hero is such a single minded, straight-laced individual that he makes the perfect source for many a funny moment. The story is very well written and, while it doesn't go into hard science, it does try to keep things as realistic as possible, which can be quite a feat with time travel. The characters are also really well written, including the supporting cast, which helps make the entire story come to life. Overall, the story was fantastic and kept me engaged straight through to the end.I received a free ARC copy for review purposes.

Hitchhiker's Guide to Jurassic Park
Can this book possibly measure up to the epic cover? Let's peek inside: "Like his Italian grandmotherโs idea of a pinch of garlic in her cooking, the usual seasoning of sarcasm Nancy sprinkled into her tone had given way to peak, knock-you-out-of-your-seat saturation." Time to get cozy, this looks like a fun read!An upright taxman whose vulgar language tends towards baked goods goes to investigate a case with his much calmer (and better prepared) colleague. Not to spoil it, because it's in the title, but time travel, T-Rexes, and wry humor ensue. It's a pretty light, quick read, even trying to ensure no paradoxes occur. I'd read more from this author.

Dinosaurs and taxes!
"T-Rexes & Tax Law" is a fun, time-traveling adventure full of humor, action, and troublesome paradoxes.I enjoyed the protagonist, Alfred the taxman, who is a quintessential "annoying geek who doesn't know he's a geek" type. I like how Ford wrote the story from his point of view, so we're presented his opinions as if they are fact, but context clues provided by other characters suggest his view is usually out of touch with reality. Most obviously in that he thinks of himself as a noble hero and others... let's say "think less of him."It's a fun, quick read and good for a laugh.

Everyone's "favorite" taxman
I guess the IRS truly is everywhere. Great story. I started the series further down the line so I really appreciated getting to know Alfred "in the beginning". He was somewhere between hilarious and scary and of course Nancy was smart and really ended up saving the day. I did have to listen to this alone because I kept laughing. The narrator captured him perfectly with a whining type of voice that made you want to slap him. It fit perfectly. Nancy came across as sarcastic and smart which considering she was the voice of reason, also made her perfect. I loved the "mercenary". I did have a bit of trouble with the description of the time problem and would have liked a better detailing of that but nevertheless, the story moved right along and didn't stop until the end. I'm off to Book 2.

Turned out pretty good. :-D
I found that keeping the narrative between 95-100x worked best to get the sarcasm down. It did take me a few chapters to really get into the story but once I did it kept me engaged. :-)So, Alfred totally annoyed me at the start, until I started laughing at him. :-D Of. course, Nancy is the back bone & heroine. Therefore, her character is strong which makes Alfred seem weak. Lol, I became annoyed with him in regards to the Marine. ;-)Good word building, put I'd like a little more depth to the Cretaceous period. The narrative, a bit distracting & his enunciations were a bit off more so in some places than others. He alone would get a 2.5 out of 5 from me.Nice ending, I'm certainly going to read the next in the series. :-DMy star ratings include these 5 elements:1โ story line1โ engaging characters1โ use of world building/descriptions1โ narration or editing1โ the ending

For a tax guy...He's really not prepared.
Who goes to the desert for two days with no water, no food, no overnight shelter, no nothing except sunscreen and peanut butter cookies? ( do those count for food?). This auditor is only focused on one thing..catching a tax cheat, what he gets is lizard drool on his face and a totally unexpected trip to a time before taxes were invented. But prepare for question marks appearing above you head as you wrap your mind around two people, who are the same person...but totally different. It's quick read but highly enjoyable.

A Fun Romp
This book was such a fun read. The dynamic between the main characters of Alfred and Nancy is well developed in a short amount of time, and the growth of their relationship is just such a delight. The pace of the story is quick and doesn't drag but also doesn't leave the reader feeling that they missed something important. Looking forward to reading more of the adventures of Alfred Favero, IRS Senior Tax Analyst.

Dinosaurs, Timetravel & Future Assassins,
What can you say about this? It says 4hrs to read. 21/2 hours max.. Really interesting premise. Reads like a very famous film bringing dinosaurs to life on an Island - oh yes - Jurassic Park. To get around copyright this one is set in the Cretaceous Era. Easy. Some nice descriptive passages about the flora & fauna - but all secondary to the action, romance and plot.Er, some of the future tech a bit vague and lack lustre, the morals and ethical philosophy could have been brought in sooner to create a continuous thread. Nothing is as black & white.Speaking of colours, SO vanilla a Nun from a Carmelite Order could read it and still have nothing to confess.Nice characters, based on Jurassic Park,I think, or similar.I find it hard to criticise anyone who has got off their a&$e and written a book AND had it published AND had me so interested I have forked out money for it. Success in my eyes.A good read when you are full of pain meds, flat on your back with your back in spasm. What more can I say.

Fun story
The title had me hooked, and then the story is excellent. I thought for a while there were elements of Jurassic Park, but it wasnโt, this story is very amusing, and thoughtful with a few time paradoxes thrown in. Alfred is a fun antihero, and I liked Nancy, the rest of the characters are well written. It is just a very entertaining story all round

Time travelling IRS no one is safe
The main character is not the most likeable of people but who would expect anyone from the IRS to be likeable. However the plot is interesting the characters intriguing and you can see him growing up somewhat albeit very slowly. An interesting look at time paradoxes as well as keep in mind alternate time lines.

Nobody gets away without paying tax
This book is a brilliant read, you can travel through time but you can't get away without paying taxes.Alfred and Nancy track together to find out what happened at a deserted facility, they don't expect to run into dinosaurs. Not do they expect to be transported back in time to the time when dinosaurs ruled the earth.Suddenly there is more to live than petty office squabbles and then they need to find a way home. An excellent read for all
