Televisionary Oracle

This is a hard book to review. It is a sprawling megalomaniac, altruistic, generous book stuffed with sly wish-fulfilment, breathtaking prayers, brutal self-honesty, and transcendent passages. Then there are the moments when "more is more," and Brezeny's aesthetic of overwhelming imagery become almost a parody of the rich vein of beauty he channels. So the book is worth the reading...but I took this one in small doses. The generous spirit of the book is not overtaken by the raw mass of imagery, luckily! There is beauty here.

Rob Brezsny's Pronoia platform (the suspicion that the world is conspiring behind your back to shower you with blessings) shows up in yet another medium as a novel novel. The first person POV of alternating chapters by the two main characters gives it a multiple personality diarist's feel which might be Beszsny's personal recollections if not for the metaphysical/supernatural/preternatural tales. Hell, how do I know it didn't happen?Completely non-gratuitous coarse language and obsessive/excessive sexuality slaps the prudish out of their Pollyanna reverie with a mantra of "Get over it."Lots of good memes to wean you from the media monster that now controls your life (and brings you this review).

I adore this book. I won't even attempt to describe it to you; just read it. It's a little over the top in some ways, but the message couldn't be more important or more appropriate at this point in history, and I find it very entertaining. I love Brezsny's way with words, his profound silliness, and his line on some vital truth.

What can I say? It's not for everyone but I f'in love this book. So many great lines and ideas, I have post-its on almost every page. I give away almost all my books after reading them, but this one's a keeper. A crazy wisdom tour de force, one of those treasures I wish I could read for the first time again.

This should be required reading for anyone who believes there is more out there than meets the eye. For anyone who is a seeker of truth and beauty. For anyone looking to increase their intelligence. For anyone looking for a mind-blowing experience. For all you enlightenment and illumination seekers out there.But most of all - this should be required reading for everyone who doesn't meet the above criteria. Those are the people who most need to read this book.

I've enjoyed his Free Will Astrology for years and years, but this was my first venture into anything more than a paragraph of his; quite delighted, entertained, intrigued, etc., as he once again gave my (plenty of) food for thought. You can't help but feel changed, better, after reading this! Thanks!

This is a strange novel that would probably appeal more to a younger audience (than my age of 72). It is at once sacrilegious and pious, and calls for a type of spiritual and sexual revolution within a radical feminist framework. It is rife with anarchist rebellion.

I love Bob! He is pretty trippy dippy and this isn't your average run of the mill stuff so if you feel like you wanna shake things up in your life come ride on this train!
