Not the taste I was hoping for
I like the barbecue Sweet potato fries from Potato Corner. Haven’t been able to buy it because of the lockdown, so thought I could replicate it with Joe’s Kansas City French Fry Seasoning. Unfortunately, the taste is far from what I expected it to be after reading a lot of good reviews.Just not my taste but glad other buyers like it.

They changed the mix.
I first bought this rub/seasoning many years ago directly from The Kansas City BBQ Store, which is owned by the same folks that run Joe's Kansas City and also make the Cowtown rubs and sauces in competition. They had the Fry Seasoning available in small bottles only, which was an annoyance because it was my favorite rub/spice mix that I had tried. I ended up buying several of the tiny bottles to make sure I did not run out and still have a few of those. they're fairly old, so I decided to purchase a new, 12 oz bottle of the rub. When I first tried the new bottle, I noticed that it was similar tasting, but not the same. I thought it was just the age/freshness difference, but I preferred the older little bottle. I cracked open one of my unopened older small bottles and tasted the two head to head, and the older version was better tasting. Again, the new version tastes similar, but IMO, not as good. Looking at the ingredients list on both bottles, the difference was clear. The new bottle did not list MSG. It makes me sad that Joe's felt the need to change the recipe, but I understand. Public perception is a big thing and the public are generally stupid. The new version still tastes great, but it is a lesser version of the original. Makes me sad since the Fry Seasoning was my favorite rub/seasoning that I had come across. Fantastic on everything. I just hope they leave the Cowtown All Purpose rub alone now.

Deliciojs
We get Hello Fresh meals and have decided to try making some of the recipes on our own. The problem is that some of the recipes called for “fry seasoning”. I tried Lowry’s seasoning salt and the recipe ended up too salty. This one was perfect.

Rescues bad fries! Good on everything! Not vegetarian
Great! Good taste, not just salty, a balanced mix of flavors. Salty, onion-y, garlic-y, a little sweet, some other stuff I can't quite identify but are really good ;-).Rescues otherwise terrible Wendy’s and BK fries. Good on frozen fries and other potato dishes too: hash browns, tater tots, home fries, etc. Also good on popcorn, eggs, burgers, wings, other chicken parts, pork loin, roasted vegetables, pretty much anything you want to taste really good. It’s a big container so you can afford to experiment with it.Big shaker; easy to get a lot out fast. Also have to be a little careful, for the same reason.Update: Still love it. Feel like I got decent value for the money. Have already bought again, so I can have one at home, and one at the office to fix bad work cafeteria food.FYI: NOT vegetarian. Contains beef bouillon.

Too salty for me
For me personally it was too salty. I liked Weber's KC rub so I figured I try another KC style. I should have read the ingredients list on both first. This rub has salt as the first ingredient and the Weber has sugar as the first. I still use this in combination with other rubs etc because it is still a good mix of spices, and if you're looking for a salt heavy rub then you will probably like this but for me it was too salty by itself.

VERY Salty!
The first flavor that hits you is salt - and a lot of it! Got to put your taste buds into overdrive to seek out the other flavors. They're good...once the salt dissipates a bit. Seriously...daughter and husband love salty flavors, but even this was way too much for them. It is the first ingredient on the label, as are many seasonings, however their recipe must call for 3 oz in a 6 oz jar. Won't buy again.

Delicious
I've been using this stuff for quite some time and I have to say it's the best fry seasoning I've ever used. I cut up potatoes into fries or wedges toss them in oil and Joe's bake them this seasoning is absolutely delicious. I also put it on bagged fries after deep frying. Chicken thats grilled. You won't be sorry!!
