**Q: Wouldn't the blade guard/foot of a rotary cutter protect the board?**
A: Hi Kenneth:  the board is cardboard so a rotary cutter will damage it.  I had my previous one for over 20 years and it had some nicks from pins going through the fabric and scratching the cardboard, but was still useable.

**Q: What are the "open and flat" dimensions of the board?**
A: From mine that is still in the wrapper:Open 39 3/4" x 71 3/4"  (101cm x 182cm)Folded 12" x 39 3/4"  (30.4cm x 101cm)

**Q: is it made of cardboard or some other material**
A: It's corrugated cardboard about a quarter inch thick.

**Q: Not a self healing, so is it just for like laying on soft surfaces like the carpet so you have a sturdy area to pin & draw patterns?**
A: No, not self healing. It does give you a sturdy area to pin and draw patterns. You can place it on the floor or a table.
