Stylish, Functional, Retro-Cool
Amazing functionality and super cool design, but I have to say I was really surprised when I opened the box. Looks like a women’s size, or youth version. I am still wearing it, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like there needs to be a 40mm version. This watch is around 34mm. Also, even though this watch is much smaller than the Royale, the world map is actually larger and the date font is much easier to read. I love the spacious layout and readability, despite the diminutive size. If it were 100m water resistant, have a 10yr battery, and be larger it would be absolutely perfect.

The watch succeeds as a retro 1980's style that is reasonably sized and comfortable. It should be of interest to world travelers
The Casio A500WA is the latest in a long line of well designed reasonably priced world timer watches. The watch succeeds as a retro 1980's style that is reasonably sized and comfortable. It should be of interest to world travelers and anyone looking for a moderately priced multi-function watch that can tell time from around the world. Casio has used chrome plated resin cases in combination with stainless steel bracelets since the 1980's. That combination has proven to be durable and a way of keeping prices low. The watch includes several well designed features including:1. A panel in the upper left that clearly shows the status of the four separate alarms, hourly chime and whether a beep is enabled to announce mode changes.2. A world map that denotes which of 31 time zones the watch is currently displaying. The world time function is accessed through the mode button and lists 48 cities with dst configurable for all but UTC.3. A complete watch display with perpetual calendar good through 2099 that shows time, day, date, month and dst status. Four time displays accessed by the search button can be configured to quickly display time in four different cities. The time for any city can be easily transferred to the main display at the push of a button.4. A configurable countdown timer and 24 hour stop watch.5. A beige led backlight that really works. The various functions are easily accessed with one of four buttons and their use is for the most part intuitive if one has ever use a digital watch. The only negative I can think of is the printed owners manual. Into a tiny 2" by 3" manual that runs for over 100 pages is crammed somewhat cryptic instructions in several languages. Easily read instructions can be downloaded from any of the Casio distributor websites.Update: After a little over a month I have the following observations. Monthly accuracy is much better than specified and is within 5 seconds of the atomic clock on nist.gov. Display is legible and easy to read. Changing settings such as DST, timer operations, date, etc., is easy and intuitive. World time is enhanced by T1 - T4 memories for storing home and frequently accessed zones. The watch is a comfortable easy to wear alternative to much larger world time models such as the AW1200. It is worth mentioning that watch specifications including materials used, size and features are as shown on the Amazon listing.

Feature-packed but conservative timepiece
AMAZON MAKES EDITING REVIEWS TERRIBLE SO THAT IS WHY THIS HAS BEEN MULTI-SUBMITTED. SUBSTITUTE ALL DBC32 FOR DBC611 IN ANY REVIEWS BECAUSE DBC32 LOOKS BAD DBC611 LOOKS GREAT. FVKC AMAZON FOR BAD USER INTERFACE DESIGN.There isn't much to say. The Casio A500W-whatever (chrome with black-tone bezel) is conservative in appearence. It packs every *basic* time feature into a very small visual form factor. Timezones, 5 alarms plus chime, countdown timer, and stop watch, all in addition to the main day/date/day-of-week/time view. Countdown was the killer feature missing from the DBC611 but this A500W does have!Side note: I really wish Casio would link up with SwissMicros and do a databank worldtime 8-register RPN-calculator watch which spanks everything else, and make it look classic like this watch or the DBC611 (definitely not some gaudy-big black gshock look). A true Japanese-cross-Swiss watch. Alas, a turbonerd can dream...

GREAT WATCH FOR THE MONEY
Purchased this watch from an Amazon Seller. It arrived promptly, very securely packed. Very nice looking watch, had most all the features I was looking for. My previous watch, a Timex, I bought in 1984. It just died a couple weeks ago. So I was looking for a watch with similar features, Timex don't make that any more in a format I like so I found this Casio. I spent several hours setting it up. The big thing I wanted was a 24 hour time display which my new Casio has. Also shows time in many zones across the world. It even gives me UTC Time at the touch of a button. Wahooo! It has the stop watch and countdown timer functions also. Well and good. Then there are 5 possible alarms, a daily time signal, that can be set for say Noon. There is a button tone function that causes the watch to beep when you push a button. All very nice features that can be turned on or off. Initially I could not get the alarms and tones to work. Called Casio Customer Care. Very nice fellow helped me go over the settings. We set and alarm for a few minutes later. When it went off the ALM icon flashed in the display but I heard no tone. Same with the daily time signal and with the button tone. I could hear no sound. I was thinking that I might have to return the watch. BUT, I had a similar problem with my Timex back in 1985, I could not hear the alarm. People 50 yards away could hear it but I could not because my high frequency hearing in my right ear is about half of normal. I had forgotten that and now I tested the Casio by turning on the alarm for 10 seconds and holding the watch at my ear. I could hear it, not very loud but it was working. So I would think that Casio might have louder alarms on their watches. Of course it may just be my ear. I can't fault the watch for the alarm problem. All in all for the price this is an excellent watch so far. The one thing I don't like is the band, it has one of those non expanding bands that closes with a fold over clasp. That clasp is exasperating the first few times you use it. And it took me about 10 tries to get the length of the band set properly. So I will be putting a nice expansion band on my new Casio in the next few days. So we will see how well this watch lasts. As I said above, so far it is an excellent watch. I only have a minor gripe about the band.

Love this watch
Love this watch. It is small, but that's the style back when people were wearing this. It's very clean looking and got a retro style. Perfectly functional and simple. I have had nothing wrong with this watch in the few months of wearing it.

I added a stainless strap from a broken Guess watch and this thing looks retro and slick. Gives off a 007 in the 80's vibe. Would look small on an XL wrist though.
