For Individuals and Professionals-- Inspiring *Before You Tackle* and Outstanding Reference
If you are a person who has spent time watching Marie Kondo clear clutter out of people's lives... You could make a small investment in this book, and do it yourself, room by room. Chapters are organized by area of the home and home office and garage. Each prom had a breezy overview, a sorting *game plan*. Kempner includes details such as shelf life of makeup, how to store silver with minimal tarnishing, how long motor oil or tax paperwork should be kept. IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER (or *want to be*), you will want this book as your *checklist* so that you won't miss a trick or omit important considerations that would have a client upset with you later. As of 2019, it is very up-to-date on storage products, and even recommending software for laying out your organizing recommendations/plan to show to clients and contractors for outlets, cabinetry etc. There is even useful business advice in the office organization section. Considering the price, the book is the least expensive professional consultation you can HAVE for your own organizing our organizing business! Yes, I patted myself on the back for having come up with several of the storage plans and solutions myself. But her very practical advice for MAINTAINING THE ORGANIZATION system (see, for example home office filling; or keeping your closet with up to date styles that fit). Another aspect of this book, which I appreciated because we have some family members who are renovating houses and selling them ("flippers") is that Ms. Kempner ALWAYS advises what she has observed in LUXURY, HIGH-END homes (but also shows how it can be scaled down for a budget solution). The artwork is mostly hand-drawn, but the illustrations are clear and informative. There are also SEVERAL useful checklists. Happily, the artwork is very easy to zoom in the Kindle version of the book. I have purchased a print version for my mother. I like the ability to take personal notes in the Kindle version, and will likely be going through this book again. NEXT ON MY LIST: organizing the GARAGE!!

Wasn’t that impressed
It’s not a bad book, but it’s not what I thought it would be. The book is more useful for a family drowning in a “house” they have outgrown, with too much stuff. The author makes suggestions for organizing, but I’m not into buying more things to organize the things I already have. That’s just shifting stuff from this to that. It’s still here. This is not for people in an apartment or condominium type resident. I didn’t read any life hacks to cut down my time, keep me motivated and on track. Been doing a “huny-do-list” for years, and huny, I didn’t finish all the many projects I started.Again, it’s not a book with bad suggestions, just not a book that helps some of us that can’t break away from “things” we think we’ll need in a future of tomorrow’s.Sorry , but I can’t find a box for that. 😀

Closet design ideas
This is such a wonderful book to use as a reference guide. Recently, I moved into a new house. Getting rid of junk from the last 10 years was overwhelming. I was getting ready to design my newly installed closet and needed some ideas and examples of what would work with a specific size closet. The illustrations were terrific and gave me so many ideas I would never have thought of. Also, I had been using cheap wire and plastic hangers. After going through certain chapters, I noticed the author really likes the velvet hangers. These were terrific because they are very thin and I was able to store more clothes than before. Also, I was tired of finding why clothes on the ground after they slipped off the hangers. The book has inspired me to be more organized and neat. Even though we think we know about organizing, you will realize there is so much more to learn. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to create a cleaner more organized environment!

My new go-to Home Organizational Bible!
The Top-To-Bottom Home Organizing guide is my new go to for ALL areas of my home. The author, Caralyn Kempner, understands that everyone lives differently and that when we are overwhelmed by our space, to just start small. One room or drawer at a time, small steps make big changes. I read her acknowledgement in the back of book, it was an inspirational story of how she grew her love of organization to help others feel good in the space they live in and it really shows in her words throughout the book. I love the layout, it's easy to read and covers every inch of your home in a clear and concise manner. The illustrations are helpful as well and very creatively done. I look forward to having this book become my new go to bible for home organization for years to come, as I will always need a bit of guidance to help me continue to love the space I live in. Well done Mrs. Kempner.

Very helpful!!!
A GREAT read! I love that this can be read in parts, instead of front to back! The first Chapter called "Introduction to Home Organizing" is awesome because it gives the "Top Home Organizational Tips", which gives some summary on the rest of the book. Not only is the book about organizing the rooms in a home, but it also talks about maintaining the organization within a home. This is evident in Chapter 4, so the progress can actually be continued, and not just a temporary organization style! Additionally Chapter 47 on the desk area was very helpful because it prevents disorganization. Big fan of this book. So proud of you, Caralyn !!! :)

Great book!
Haven't quite finished reading this book yet but it is excellent. The only thing I've noticed though, is that there isn't any mention of a living room or rumpus room in it. I read a different book and it mentioned how people use different ways of sorting that works best for them. I found this to be very helpful.
