The blade came sharp but not razor sharp. It's a nice little fixed blade edc for me. It sits in my hand really well.

A very nice knife with a few minor flaws
Overall I am quite happy with my purchase. I bought this knife to throw in my car or camping bag. The Micarta handle looks very nice (it reminds me of the stock on the Ruger Scout rifle) but it does scratch easily. I put a nice scratch in it the first day when I was sharpening the blade. The glass breaker on the end of the handle is one of the reasons I like to carry this knife in the car. I also added about 4' of paracord onto the knife using the lanyard holes. The blade is a full tang, and feels very tough. I'm not a metallurgist nor have I owned it that long to speak about how the blade holds up after rough use or how well it prevents corrosion. I like the aggressive finger well and extended finger guard on this knife as I've cut myself on other knives because they've slipped in my hand while using). The tanto style blade is great for slashing or thrusting. So why 4 stars? Well, the sheath that comes with this knife is junk. It's nylon, so it's going to get cut up very fast if used often. For a few bucks more Camillus could've included a kydex sheath that would stand up to heavy use. Out of the box the blade needed to be sharpened. It wasn't dull, but I had to spend 15-20 minutes with a sharpening stone to get it razor sharp. The coating on the blade does not hold up to use as mine all ready has spots where it's rubbing off after mild use. Lastly, the handle is just *slightly* too small for my hand. Another 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of handle would be a perfect fit for me. I do have larger hands, so if your hands are average sized or smaller you should be fine. For the price point this knife is going for it's a great deal. My issues with it are minor (I took 1/3 of a star off for each) and they may not matter to you if you have smaller hands or are handy with kydex. This is my second Camillus knife (I also own the Camillus Cuda) and it has done nothing to steer me away from the brand.

So the handle is small but managed... but the sheath did NOT hold up... can't carry it now for risk of injury

Well made and nice finish, but too small handle and peculiar blade.
I bought this knife to have as a small, lightweight, but robust knife for trecking in the mountains. It certainly fulfills most of these aspects, but unfortunately fails in others. I have rather average sized hands for an adult male, but the handle is just a half inch or so too short. The sharp point of the tang with the lanyard holes cuts into my little finger. Otherwise the handle is very nice shaped and fills the hand nicely for a good grip. The blade has a slightly unusual design for a tanto blade. The angled edge towards the point of the blade is relatively long compared to the cutting edge nearer to the handle. It makes cutting of branches etc a little awkward. The grind is also a broad hollow grind which renders about half of the blade quite thin. I have a bad previous experience of a knife with such thin, broad hollow grind. It chipped during a light batoning for preparing a fire. I did not have this information about the blade before ordering the knife. It may happen that the knife has an other inteded use than mine. I decided not to return it. Instead I use it as a small kitchen knife for which it works fine. For my mountain hikes I instead bought a Kershaw Fixed Tone. It has similar weight, a slightly longer handle, and a tanto blade with a longer cutting edge.It is also hollow grind, but not as broad, which (I hope) makes the blade a bit stronger. I have done battoning with it and it worked very well. It also cuts branches very well for its sixe. Its handle is thinner (flatter) than the Camillus and thus fills the hand less well, but it is long enough for my hand.

excellent blade
This knife stays amazingly sharp, it's small and light weight, I use it as a parring knife, works great on tomatoes. Cut cord like a dream. When ever it starts to feel like its not so sharp any more all i do is run the honer over it a few times and its ready for action again. So sharp that carrying it made it cut the sheath, only bad thing LOL

Nice knife but somewhat disappointed over being made in China
The knife is nice, comes with the lifetime warranty, but I'm disappointed that a Camillus is made in China. It didn't say in the listing where it was made, I expected a Camillus of this price to be made in the US. I wanted to buy US this year for Christmas.
