Lodge Essential Enamel Cast Iron Braiser, 3.6 Quart, Caribbean Blue

Recently purchased this. I needed a larger braiser, but wanted something that would also fit in my oversized toaster oven, and this fits like it was custom made. At $80 it's a steal. I have cast iron pans I've been using for over 50 years, including a Le Creuset dutch oven, and this appears to match the quality, and I expect my kids to finish out the next 50 years with this Lodge after I pass it on. Two key points. The bottom of the pan is about 10.75 in, or roughly the size of a 12" skillet. And the sides are nearly vertical and 2.5" tall. This is great for browning things without steaming, and keeping hot oil in the pan. The porcelain looks great, cleans up easily. It heat like a champ on the range and the lid works well, fits well and seals well. The handles are adequate in size. This is a piece you won't regret, and will use often.

Beautiful addition to my cooking dishes!! So happy I bought this. It's a great size for family cooking. Goes directly from the stove to the over and back. Great quality and very sturdy. Wipes clean! easy to use and it's exactly as pictured. Going back to buy other parts of the set! Cooks evenly and casseroles are SO nice ... Sautee on the stove, finish in the oven!

I bought this to cook, transport, and serve my mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and wasn't too sure what else I would use it for but it has actually become the pot I reach for frequently. Some stuff I have fit in here: 5 pounds of mashed potatoes (pretty full so you probably can't mash them in the dish too easily but great for reheating and cooking and serving), 2 pounds of boneless pork I was braising, almost 4 pounds of bone-in lamb leg, and a pound or so of meatballs with their sauce cooked in the dish. It's great for both the stove and the oven, pretty easy to clean even when the pan has a bunch of fond, and having the lid is useful. It's definitely not the most durable and the overall product reflects the price. I've only had it 6 months and taken pretty good care of it and even with that, it has a chip or two I've noticed. The lid is also not the tightest fit -not a problem but I would expect paying for a more "premium" brand would give you something more perfect feeling. That being said, I am happy with the purchase and assuming it lasts for a while (which I would expect it to based on my experience so far) these things are not dealbreakers. I was a little unsure what I would use this for – I have a 5.5 quart dutch oven, a stainless steel skillet/frying pan, a sauté pan, and a few other items and over the years was fine with those. I think in general this can be used for a lot of stuff I would have used a dutch oven for but more convenient due to its smaller size and the shorter, wider surface make it great for browning meat and braising it. If you have limited space or want minimal tools, I would prioritize the other 2 as I think they will cover most use cases but this is definitely a nice addition and I'm glad I bought it. It does a pretty nice job making pan sauces too.

I’ve had this a few weeks and used it 5 times already. I Love it. It cooks very evenly and is Great on my Single burner induction cooktop. Also Great in the oven. I will be ordering more of these as Christmas gifts, and have 2 weddings I need gifts for this year also. It cleans up easily. Just add very warm/hot water to the pan after cooking and let it set while you eat. Everything wipes right out when it’s time to clean up. Do Not Ever add Cold Water to a Hot Pan.

Love my Lodge enameled cast iron braiser. Strong and attractive it heats evenly and retains it. After braising some tomato sauce with veggies I just soaked it in soapy water for a few minutes and it came clean without any scrubbing. Very nice. I have the matching Lodge enameled Dutch oven as well as the 10 and 12 quart cast iron Dutch ovens for camping. All are excellent, high quality cookware. I think that Lodge makes the best cast iron and enameled cookware out there. If cared for they will last a lifetime. You can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Nice size. Color as advertised. Looks nice. Very heavy as it should be. Lid is oven safe. Would buy again.

I love this pan due to its' size and lid. It is surprisingly heavy so if you are arthritic it might cause you a little difficulty to handle it. It works great on my induction cooktop and is easy to clean.

The first covered casserole I received had a bulge on the bottom and would not set flat on the burner. I called lodge to see if that was normal and they told me it should set flat, and recommended that I return it. The second casserole I received was perfect! It works wonderfully well as an open or covered skillet as well as it's intended purpose of a casserole. I washed it thoroughly and applied a small amount of oil or butter before using it. Eggs, potatoes, pancakes, caramelizing onions, and etc., cook great and do not stick. It is fantastic for braising and browning on top of the stove as well as baking in the oven. This is a great pan to use all of the time and can be used to cook anything. It is a beautiful color, very well made and very good quality just like my Lodge enameled 6 qt. Dutch Oven that I use all the time for stews and chilies. The size is very convenient for two people. I don't think you can go wrong with this pan. Update: 05/05/2016.......I use this covered casserole all of the time, not only for casseroles, chili, soups, stews, etc., but also for bacon, eggs, sauteed foods, and a myriad of other tasks! Recently, i misjudged how much room I needed to add the potatoes on top of my shepherds pie. The results cooked over quite messily in my oven. This was the biggest test so far for my pan. I thought I was going to have to get my Scrub Daddy out and go to work on it! Wow, after soaking the empty pan in warm, soapy water for 5 minutes, it came out looking brand new! I am so impressed! Nothing I have cooked in this pan has stuck AND it cooks everything just great! Another benefit is that after baking in the oven, the pan keeps everything much hotter for a longer period of time! This is one fantastic pan!!!!

I have many cast iron cookware from Lodge and had been contemplating for a long time. Finally I took the plunge and I am very happy that I did. The packaging was superb. Build quality is top notch and I cooked mutton today and turned out real good. Another best buy, however is a tad pricey.

J'adore !! Je l'utilise depuis un bon moment et je ne m'en passerais plus!! La chaleur se répartie a merveille et se nettoie super bien. J'utilise que des ustensiles de bois a la maison mais il n'y a aucune égratignure après plusieurs mois d'utilisation. J’ADORE ce produit je racheterai cette marque sans aucune crainte.!!

Lodge is a US company, but these Dutch ovens are made in China and are excellent. This Lodge has superior wear and enameling than my Chasseur, made in France. The Chasseur does get used more, as the Lodge's low, wide size is less versatile, but there in not a mark on the Lodge enamel, it is noticeably thicker and will wear better. The Chasseur is already very worn and chipped on the rims. It'll still work for many years, but at the cost, it should be better.
