Abus 83/45 83 Series Rekeyable Brass Padlock, with Kwikset"KW1" Keyway 0-Bitted

I ordered this lock on the advice of my coworker that was going to configure it and cut the key to match my house key. I appreciate his help with this since personally I would not have been able to do that. His recommendation was spot on. It is a very high quality lock that I plan on using to lock my antique outdoor patio furniture with a cable to prevent them from being stolen.

These aren't inexpensive, but with good care and oiling last nearly forever. And the rekeying allows for future security without future heavy costs.

Not particularly suited for outdoor use but very sturdy none the less. Beats Master and American locks in terms of tolerances and materials. Easily pinned to Kwikset style keys. Very nice lock.

The lock was shipped quickly and was easy to re-key. It looks and feels well constructed. I'm the kind of person who hates carrying extra keys so the ability to use the same key as my front door is a big thing to me. I bought it with the  Kwikset Rekey Kit Set 4 Keys 8 Locks 5 Pins by eBuilderDirect.com . The lock will either work with 5 or 6 pin key configuration. The only thing I didn't like was there were no instructions on how to re-key the lock. Fortunately, there's a good youtube video which can show you how.

I was able to easily repin this to my house key. I worked on each pin individually, then when I found the right size, I placed it asside and worked on the next one. At the end, I replaced all the new pins and it worked perfectly.Except when the shakle fell off on my wife because I had flipped the Z bar instead of removing it. But it was easy to reassemble.

Was able to set up a master key bitting. Has some security pins and they can be switched out/rearranged. You can even re-key the lock without fully disassembling it. Can be set to key-retaining or not.
