ACK-E2 AC Power Adapter Supply Kit for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

I purchased this Kapaxen ACK-E2 AC Power Adapter Supply Kit for a Canon 40D, which is explicitly listed as a compatible camera make and model. I should make clear that I bought used. Upon inserting the battery portion into the camera, it clicked into place successfully, but my camera would not turn on. I tested my camera with several other Canon brand and 3rd party brand batteries and it functioned fine so I was able to narrow down that this was a faulty Power Supply. Right off the bat, comparing with other 40D batteries, I noticed that more than one electrical contact were either bent or missing altogether with just the inlay where the contact should've been. In addition, the voltage exceeds that of 40D 4.7v batteries, which could potentially lead to an fire hazard or damage your equipment, especially with a cheaper power supply. I will be returning this item to the seller. Also, I am strongly considering never buying used again from any seller on Amazon, as this is the 2nd time in the last month I've purchased used and the product does not work; leading me to believe that when I return this to the seller, it will simply be put back on the market and resold again, in hopes someone will be too lazy to go through the hassle.

Nothing bad to report so far. It works without any problem with my Canon eos 40D. I haven't tried on any other. There's 3 parts that plug into each other: the AC power cord, the DC coupler and the adapter cord with a battery shaped connector that goes into your camera battery compartment. That cord is about 55inches which is long enough to put the camera on a tripod, keeping the charger unit on the floor. The adapter slides into the battery compartment of the camera without issue. There's a little rubber flap on the camera that yo need to open to let the cord pass through. I chose this one because it looked closely like the Canon genuine adapter.It seems possible to replace the adapter cord to use the DC coupler with another type of camera, provided that the DC supplied is the same.

This product not only did not work as described, it make the dreaded 90 error code appear on my camera; right before an important pro shoot. It's a knock off piece of garbage. Order at your own risk. I was fortunate to have the experience to be able to reinstall the firmware to make my 50D functional again. Even that took several attempts to prevent my Canon from becoming a brick. Not only don't order this product, but please write to the seller and ask them not to sell incompetent products on amazon. Amazon was once so reliable but it seem they've taken on sleazier and sleazier businesses. The seller of this piece of crap is a prime example. If you want to go ahead and order it, hoping you'll be the one to get the great deal, good luck. If you enjoy spending time and money on exchanging worthless products you've found the right place.You are warned! Order from legitimate retailers such as adorama or B&H. You'll just get burned trying to save money via these worthless Chinese ripoffs.

I bought this AC power adapter supply mainly to shoot long shots in the night so I don't have to worry about draining my battery. This works fine. Like many other reviews, the fake bettery insert has a plastic knob which needs to be cut off before it will fit in the battery compartment. It takes about 4 seconds with a kitchen knife to accomplish that. Once you have done it, you are good to go. It's a good inexpensive alternate to Canon's expensive adapter.

I wanted to take photos for a time-lapse video of the lunar eclipse last Monday/Tuesday and I was worried the battery would run out. I did the research on this adapter, read the reviews, made sure it would work with my camera (Canon 40D) and I ordered it.It got here, I tested it out, it worked like a dream.Sadly, I hadn't taken the time to learn what my camera can do and how to use it properly and all I got were hundreds of black rectangles, but the adapter kept on powering that camera!Two thumbs up!

It's inexpensive so I don't expect that it would last long if abused, but it works fine for me. I'll probalby only use it 2 or 3 times a year, and couldn't see buying something more expensive. If I used it daily, then of course, I'd buy a pro caliber product that can handle the rigors of daily studio/field use.The fake battery fits my Canon 10D battery compartment perfectly and I don't have any functional issues with it thus far. At this price, I'd buy another if this one broke or I damaged it. It's cheap but it works.

Since Canon so graciously decided to stop making AC adapters for their older model cameras, this is a suitable replacement. So far, all the ones I've ordered have done their job - with the exception of one that was received broken, which I sent back.

I had some old batteries that wouldn't hold much of a charge and I had considered trying to build an AC adapter like this out of an old battery since I didn't want to pay the price for the official Canon version. Then I happened upon this product and decided I might as well roll the dice since the price was reasonable. I was pleased to find that it worked fine in my 10d. Should have bought one of these a long time ago!
