Shaman Pathways - The Druid Shaman

Great Book
I have to say that I am generally suspicious of most authors who would consider themselves in the New Age category. Just a cursory consideration of nature and the world yields an understanding that everything is not all love and light and fluffy bunnies. These things exist, surely, but there is also great darkness in the world, including the spirit world. I don't know how many times I've read teachings such as "trusting all the beings in the spirit world" in New Age works on shamanism, and teachings like that are incredibly dangerous to individuals who might unknowingly come under the sway of spirits that are, shall we say, less than altruistic. It's precisely because of hazards such as this that shamanic, advanced qigong, advanced tantra and other related practices were handed down personally by a teacher, in the same way that a gun range instructor teaches an inexperienced person to use a firearm: very useful tool, very dangerous when used improperly. In fact, one could safely assert that everything in nature survives by struggle. And while Danu Forest's book does not deal with these things specifically, I wanted to point out my opinion on these things to note that I never got the impression in reading this book that she was in any way unrealistically idealistic in her presentation of what she considers Druidic Shamanism. I found her work to reflect what I have also encountered in my practice, and found it to be accurate and succinct. Like other reviewers, I find all her works to be down to earth, devoid of fluffy bunny stuff, and practical. Although this book is surprisingly thin, I find it to be more detailed and more useful than the vast majority of books in this category. For a guy who considers most books on this topic to be New Age nonsense, I endorse this book!

Little Fluff, But Not Bad
Haven't completely finished, but am over 90% done. There are some grammatical mistakes that make me cringe, and you'd think an editor or publisher would fix these before release. The premise of the book is a good one. It teaches someone on the path the basic principles behind spirit travelling. The author did add a bunch of fluff in there that I think is unnecessary. Don't tell someone what to visualize when they are meditating. Everyone will have different experiences, and if you paint the picture of your experience, you may change their subconscious views and alter their experience (which I see as detrimental to your cause of teaching others). Other than that, it's a good guide for a beginner.

Pretty good stuff
If you've been researching into druidism, most(if not all) of these concepts are shared. I like the viewing of such traditions from a place of respect and a natural connection, a view that i found lacking in some groves philosophy. If you are looking into druidism as a system of belief and are a magician/mage/witch i highly recommend this book. It fits best within those systems and complements most of the research I've done in my lifetime.9/10

Great information with powerful techniques but not for the student of True Druidism
There are some beautiful and powerful techniques in this manual, although it was not what I was hoping for. This manual focuses on the watered down, pagan aspect of Druidism, long after the True knowledge was lost. Druidism fell into corruption just as all religions do and it's full Truth was lost and forgotten. The ancient Druids were entrusted with the ancient wisdom of Atlantis and were given this knowledge by the Atlantean priests who were not corrupted, to carry on Atlantean technology and magick because they could foresee the fall and destruction of Atlantis. For millennia the Druids carried this hidden wisdom. This is the real reason St. Patrick wiped out the Druids. Because they held more power than the Roman government and in the mind of that government, they needed to be eradicated so that Rome could rule unopposed. (Druids would never use their power for control though.) Very few people, even those who call themselves Druids know this. My hopes were to find a True Druid who authored these pages. I did not. Although she is knowledgeable of the pagan version of Druidism. I will give her credit for that.

A series of exercises for the inexperienced shaman
THE DRUID SHAMAN is mostly a series of exercises designed to get the new or inexperienced shaman familiar with their guides. However, interspersed with the exercises is actually some good information on druidry and spirituality in general. I found the exercises to be a little played out and not exactly serviceable (though I'm sure not everyone will have the same experience) but the information behind them was solid and enlightening. I enjoyed this book not for the technique, but for the background behind it.

Good start point
Decent book. Woke me up a bit and also pointed out a big problem within Eden. Self-service is a big problem, and the Druid revival, needed my personal attention.

Best I've read!
I've been doing alot of reading about Shamanism recently and this is by far the best book I've read. Its short because its straight to the point, giving you the information you want/need and not padded with endless waffle like so many others. I originally bought it on kindle, then bought it in paperback too as its such a great resource, i know i'll be refering back to it alot, so a hard copy is great.I've read about a few types of Shamanism, Amazonian, Aboriginal, Native American and Norse, they all have plenty to teach, but I personally found this Celtic Shamanism the most relevent and accessable for me. The author has a modern and practical approach without losing any of the 'magic'. Its a fascinating mix of Shamanism, Druidism and Hedge Witchcraft, and it just feels right.I highly recommend it to anyone interested in this area, and i eagerly await the release of her new book!

The usual info found on many websites
Worth the couple of quid for the Kindle version, but don't shell out for a hard copy - you can easily find all this information in a few of the more mainstream websites online.
