Great customer service and great screen
Installed the 150" screen over my garage door and set up a quick movie (rhymes with "Blinding Temo") just to see how it would look with some ambient light still. As you can see - even with the sun setting behind me, there was PLENTY of contrast and overall picture quality got a lot of "wows" from the neighbors. Two of their kids grabbed chairs and just posted up for the duration. I'd say that's an instant-win. The screen initially didn't retract all the way and was veeery slow to go back up. I contacted Elite Screens customer service and they sent me the instructions to add tension back into the rod. Took me 5 minutes with an extra set of hands from my wonderful wife. Tossed it back up and *boom*, worked like a charm. Retracts fully unassisted at a reasonable pace and locks in place. I was able to pull it down and have it "lock in" at plenty of intervals (maybe around an inch per "step"?), so I wasn't sure what the other reviewers were having trouble with...mine dialed in nicely. I'd say it's a genuine win. Good customer service (they got back to me in less than a day) and good quality screen for the money. Neighborhood movie night and game night just went to a whole new level.

High quality, worth the money
I purchased this screen on Wirecutter’s recommendation to accompany my new TCL A1 projector. It’s excellent quality, very sturdy, and quite heavy. The size was perfect for my space and my projector’s picture is as good as can possibly be on this screen. I needed to enlist additional upper-body strength to get this screen set up in my space because it is large, unwieldy, and heavy, but once it was installed, it pulls down and retracts with ease. Yes, it’s pricey, but I’m confident it will outlast my projector and I’m very pleased with the purchase.

Great Screen
Easy to install, it hangs below the overhang of our garage. We love having projector nights on our patio now!

Poor quality control and horrible screen waves out of the box as well as misinformation on the product page.
The screen seems built OK overall, but when it arrived the case was bent outward in a small section, not inward like it would from impact during shipping. There are black spots dotted in several places on the screen which are visible when displaying light colored images and the bottom bar seems to bind slightly at the top when retracting the screen back into its case. The texture of the screen seems to cause a "sparkly" film grain effect that is mostly noticeable when displaying bright images. It really takes away from certain scenes and makes me feel like I'm watching shiny colored sand instead of a projected image. On top of all of that, while I expected waves in the screen, I didn't expect to be watching what looks like a video under wavy water with bubbles in the middle in panning shots or really anything that is supposed to be flat or straight that comes across the screen. Overall, even considering the price, I am VERY unimpressed with the quality of this screen. EDIT: There are a few more things I wanted to mention... The hexagonal tube that houses the screen when it is rolled up is twisted slightly, and even still a little when the screen is out. Presumably this is caused by the tension of the roller inside but I am unsure if this is normal or not. I have also come to realize after looking at the product page more carefully that there is contradictory information listed about this product. The screen is advertised as having stops of .78 inches. However, after around 20 minutes of trying different methods of unrolling and retracting the screen, the best I could achieve were stops 5 inches apart. Moving on from that, under the initial description near the top of the page, this screen is listed as having a 160 degree viewing angle. Fine, 160 is enough. However, in the extended description farther down the page it is listed as having a 180 degree viewing angle. Which is it? Did I even receive the screen I ordered based on the issues I am currently experiencing or was I sent a reject by (hopefully) accident? I have decided to include a few pictures showing that the screen is mounted level and also showing the bad rippling / bubbles.

Screen is fine, but the housing (top part) is really weak
I am very happy with the screen, the roller, the mounting hardware, etc. Unfortunately, it arrived with a bend in the middle of the metal housing. While this is pretty likely to happen with a screen this large, and is probably more of an issue with the delivery method, I do have to put some of the blame onto how thin the sheet metal is. I was able to straighten most of the bend with my bare hands, which showed me just how thin the metal is. While I am sure that some prefer it to be super light to reduce weight when trying to hang it, I would have preferred a slightly thicker gauge of steel in order to reduce the risk of it being bent. Other than this, the screen works great. So I'd give two stars to the housing, but five to the screen itself. To address the obvious concerns of the extra weight, I'd also have liked a third attachment point on the housing. If nothing else, it'd be a good connection for an emergency safety wire to keep it from falling all the way if one of the other two mount points fails.

Excellent quality for the price
I have been using this screen for little over a year now and during this time I have moved to a different place as well. So, I can comment on both the durability as well as the display quality of the screen for my 720p Panasonic LCD projector. My projector is about 4 years old and while the overall picture quality is still good, the contrast is not as good (as you'd expect in a 2005 model). Before this I was using a DYI screen made with a Home Depot particle board and paint as advised by many in AVS Forum. While this was much better than the dry wall, I was still not getting as good picture as my projector was capable of producing. And also I wanted a screen that would enhance the contrast without degrading the brightness as well as have wide viewing angle so that viewers can sit anywhere in the room. This screen has met all my expectations. The blacks are darker now and the brightness has also increased compared to my DYI screen making the picture pop out and more realistic. Even though the specs are not as good, I still enjoy my 4 year old projector more than my high-end PN50B850 plasma TV, even though the TV is quite good. It's probably due to the sheer size of the screen (106") that makes the movie experience more like a theater one. For sports during the day, the screen/projector combination is quite bright if I reduce the size to about 80" or so, which is still much bigger than my TV. About durability of the product, the internal spring is still working well even after at least 200 uses. I even keep the screen hanging for weeks at a time and so far no issues. We also moved to a different place and I don't see any issue even after the move. I'd recommend this screen to anyone who is looking to get the best picture out of a mid-range projector in a near-dark room.

More than good enough for a casual viewer like myself
I'm not particularly stingy when it comes to crisp pictures or good colors, so if you're really invested in getting the best of the best take this with a grain of salt. If you're like me, though, and you just want to watch TV with friends/family or play some casual games on a big screen, then I'd say this thing gets the job done. The first unit I received was damaged in shipping such that the housing was split in two, but getting a replacement was quick and simple. The housing of this is metal with plastic ends, so it can break, but it really shouldn't be facing any stress once you've mounted it so no worries there. The retraction mechanism is better than I expected, slowly and smoothly raising the screen into the housing. The adjustable heights can be tricky to get in the right spot, as it's the kind where you tug down and then let it rise a few centimeters to lock in place. For picture quality, I can say it's way better than my satin white wall. I'm not a cinema snob, nor do I have the experience to notice small imperfections or weird color balances, so I'll let other reviews speak on that. The whole thing stays surprisingly flat despite not having the tensile cords running down the sides like you might see in more expensive screens. I get a very small (like, won't see it unless you look at it from the side small) bit of curling in the bottom corners but it doesn't affect the picture enough to be noticeable. For the price, this screen was certainly worth it.

Took a gamble and it paid off....excellent screen
I had a dedicated theater room with a fixed screen that I needed to make more toddler friendly. I came to the tough decision of turning the dedicated theater room into a general media room. I had to get rid of the fixed screen and get a pull up screen so I can place a tv behind it to watch. Initially, I was scared off from manual screens by all the talk of waves in the screens. Some had even mentioned that the screens were wavy the instant they put it up. I decided to take a chance and purchase this to see how bad it was. I installed it last night, and I'm happy to report that there were no waves at all. The screen was perfect. I cant speak for its longevity, but I hope it remains this way. I was also concerned about going from my fixed screen, which has a 1.3 gain, to this one which is 1.1 gain. Again, I'm happy to report that it made no difference and the picture looked just as good, if not better, than the screen I was using. The screen was very easy to install, but I do have to give a couple of negative remarks. First, it doesnt come with parts to hang the screen on the ceiling. This was a little annoying to find out. You get excited and want to hang it up quickly, only to find out you need to run to home depot to buy a chain or hook to hang from the ceiling. Even with wall mounting, you still need to go out and purchase screws. Nothing major, but very annoying. The second thing is the screen does have an odor to it. Its nothing that will make you sick, but it is there. I'm hoping it doesnt last long. All in all, I was very surprised and pleased with the screen. For the cost, you cant beat it. My fixed screen, which I made myself, cost me almost as much as this one did. UPDATE: Well, it didnt take long to start developing waves. I had pretty much left the screen down and it was fine. Once I started to retract it and leave it retracted, i noticed waves starting to develop. Was hoping it would take longer than a couple of weeks for this to happen....

Very nice screen
I am very pleased with this product. It reflects the projector image nicely, it is not too bright or dim. Once extended, the screen stays flat without any wrinkles or waves. My HD projector's image is looking significantly different on this screen than on the wall. It is quite light and very easy to install - I did it by myself, without any help and it took me less than 5 minutes. The only downside is the synthetic-plastic smell that comes off the screen first few days so you need to vent the room well or you may get an headache. I would recommend this screen to anyone who is looking for a good quality product at a reasonable price.

Meine erste Leinwand

Awful experience
Received a duplicate item with no logo, no brand. When I tried to return it, I needed to pay the shipping costs. Waste of money. Duplicate local item is sent, and returning it costs more.
