Buy NAD PP 2i Phono Preamplifier: Preamplifiers - desertcart.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases Review: Just What I Expected - As a long time NAD product owner I purchased this assuming it would represent an excellent balance between sound quality, build quality, features and style….which this little thing does….it's built solid, has a nice mid-level output and an open/natural sound…a real steal for 99 bucks. My one complaint about this….and nearly every other phono preamp on the market is the lack of an on/off button…most of us buy these because modern day receivers/amps don't have built in phono preamps any more….when most don't have switched outlets anymore either! Someone needs to take note of this…it does make a nice night light though! Review: Poor Quality.... - After you hear some real phono preamps, the only conclusion i have for this NAD PP..series is crap.It sounds not better than the ones build in your amplifier (even wurs). There's nothing coming out, (tested with MC & MM cartridge) the line output is so weak you have to crank the volume of your power amp all the way up.Dynamics are very weak to.The highs are onnatural (sounds like plastic). When you open this little box the answer is right there.A hole box full of crap SMD components.SMD good for IPhones, but not for building serious quality audio. The biggest problem of the hole thing comes from the power supply, 24V 100mA, it's even not enough to reload your payphone. If you wanna listen to your vinyl record collection with big real sound, don't spend your money on this thing.

Not what I expected
I bought this product to boost the signal from my MC phono cartridge to my AV Receiver. As most of you know, manufacturers have eliminated the MC/MM preamplifiers in modern receivers for phono outputs. In this case, the signal was so strong coming out of the NAD Preamplifier that it badly distorted any music I played on my turntable. I tried switching between the MC position and the MM position on the back of the preamplifier, but it didn't make any difference in the distortion. Other models are available with variable output controls for far less $$. In retrospect, I think I should have purchased one of those units.

great product
i only gave it 3 stars because it requires more power than my music hall, however it is very clean and natural sounding

Gotta Love NAD
NAD preamp to go with my NAD amp. Can we get more awesome? Overall this thing sounds great. My records sound great even at high volume. Is pretty big the in the low end range. Not round, but very present. Accurate, but big. I like it. Totally worth the money.

NAD quality at a reasonable price...
I shopped around and tried a bargain preamp which although favorably reviewed did not deliver...annoying hum and noise which did not go away no matter what I tried - then, I read the critical and customer reviews of the NAD PP2i and I was convinced that a very good preamp could be purchased without breaking the budget...the NAD PP2i is the perfect complement to my vintage turntable and Audio Technica phono cartridge - it was obvious to my ears upon the first spin of an LP that I had found what I wanted - high performance and no false advertising...I absolutely highly recommend the NAD PP2i preamp (now discontinued by NAD in favor of the 3i which allows USB connectivity)

A breath of fresh aural air!
This unit has breathed new life into my vinyl collecting hobby. The sound I get is clear and precise. I see that the price has even gone down from when I bought it, so really it's a no-brainer as far as choice goes. I highly recommend.

That record sounds so much better than before
My wife didn't know I'd added it to my system. But she heard the difference - "What did you do? That record sounds so much better than before." Yep - it did too.
