Works Great
I searched the web to find something that I could use to record the songs that I receive. I needed something quick and easy to use. I have gone through countless CD/Cassette players that break down within a year. Plus, to find one now that has a built in mic is almost impossible, so I was very happy to find this product. I have only had it for a few weeks, but so far it has been a God-sent. The minute I hear a song forming within my mind I can quickly grab the unit, flip it on and I'm set to go. Great! No more lost songs floating around the atmosphere but now they are safe on my cassette until I am ready to transfer them. It is also great to use during church meeting when you want to be able to record either the sermon or some other happening so you can reflect back on it at a later time.My granddaughter had fun recording her voice the other day and other sounds as well..... This little guy has countless uses and it is sturdy, well made and very easy to use. I like it and will write another review in a year and let you know how well it held up to the often use it will definitely receive.

It stopped working after being used a few times
Very unhappy. I had previously had Sonyโs equivalent version of this recorder for many years and when it no longer worked I ordered this one. Had it for about nine months and used it 4 times. Then I started to take it to weekly chorus rehearsals. It worked for three weeks then while in the record mode it would turn itself off. I tried replacing the tapes and it did the same thing repeatedly. Useless now. Canโt find a place to repair. And compared to other recorders is costly. Most unhappy and really canโt return it because Iโve had it too long.

SONY QUALITY/EXCELLENT VALUE
Nurses have to communicate in a strange language of numbers ,abbreviations, etc. many times a day 24/7. These units were purchased to provide verbal continuity....a voice mail for all of us to use and a rotating tape system that saved our info for one week. Two recorders and 7 tapes were purchased and they have proved reliable for this purpose. Factor in the workplace and these have performed beyond expectations. A competing brand has been wearing out every month as the flimsy plastic parts kept breaking. These units do not break.(we also tried a digital/tapeless unit and it was a joke...It WOULD record, but was so complcated to use..data would be lost). I strongly recommend this tape player for a basic, well built voice recorder at a reasonable price.

Sony Cassette recorder and player
I had an old sony cassette player which eventually played. I purchased a new sony cassette recorder and player. On the playback of the tapes, there is a clicking noise constantly which is a nuisance when listening to what I recorded. I am disappointed with this product since I paid a much higher price then some of the other recorder. The clicking noise is is disruptive. The recording quality is good.

Quality is OK
I thought the recording quality would be better, but it is just OK. Every thing works well on the recorder and easy to use.

Does exactly what it should
I bought this tape player with a very specific purpose in mind. I am a criminal defense attorney and the majority of the recordings provided to us by the court or the prosecution come on tapes. I needed something to play the tapes in my office and occasionally in court. It had to be compact enough to fit in my briefcase, loud enough and clear enough to play in court, and had to have a counter so I could key sections of a transcript to a tape and easily locate the bits I wanted to play during a hearing. This little machine was cheap, and it does all that. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because of one small issue. If you use headphones it only plays through one ear. Not a big deal, except it means headphones do nothing to improve the sound quality of a poor recording.

Great recorder/player!
My Sony TCM 929 is in excellent condition minus a few scratches and dents. It plays and records excellently and sounds amazing even on the default speaker. Every feature works as described, 10/10 would buy again if I needed a second unit.

RECEIVED A USED, DEFECTIVE, OUTDATED RECORDER
I ordered this new. I received a 1995 model, used, with corrosive batteries still in the unit. If this were a new unit it would be just what I needed. It was presented as a new recorder. Here is a photo of the corroded batteries upon opening the original packaging for this 1995, inoperative model.
