Omron Pain Relief Pro

I have to say I was shocked by this little setup. I have had chronic issues with sacroiliac joint inflammation and the related lower back pain for the last year or so. Even if I take it easy in the gym or take time off altogether, the issues come back quickly once I resume training. I notcied a real benefit from receiving electrotherapy at the chiropractor's office and wanted to be able to replicate that at home. I spotted this unit at CVS for $70 and thought "I bet I can get that a lot cheaper on Amazon," which turned out to be true. After FedEx dropped it off, I installed the included batteries, attached the pads and wires, and applied the pads to my lower back. I set it on "lower back" and worked the intensity level up to 8 for the recommended 15 minutes. I was amazed that I was able to exactly replicate the experience I had at the chiropractor's office in terms of intensity and pain relief. I will probably save the 9 and 10 power settings until I am really hurting.In the box, you get the device itself, two pads that transmit current from the device to the muscles, the required wires, batteries, a belt clip for the device, a cloth carrying bag, instructions/quick start guide, and a plastic "holder" that you can stick the pads to for safekeeping. The pads are surprisingly sticky but, to my surprise, did not leave any type of residue on my skin. As stated above, Omron claims a 150 use lifespan for the pads, and I see that being entirely plausible. Replacements are available here on Amazon for something like $14 or so per pair, so that's not a lot in terms of maintenance costs.For me, the power of this device is more than enough to help treat my moderate to severe lower back pain. I do not know if I will ever turn the power level all the way up. I am fairly lean, though, so there is little in the way between the pads and my muscle tissue. Since body fat is not a good conductor, I can see why a person with a little more body fat may desire a more powerful device. I think it is awesome, though, and a very nice surprise. Not that I expected a useless product, I just didn't expect it to be quite this effective. This was completely worth the money and I noticed a difference in pain level immediately after my first use.

This is an upgrade from the original Omron that I had. With the additional intensity levels, I expected a bit more variety than I had with the smaller unit. I am not seeing a significant difference in the operation of the unit, however the size, and quality is much improved. This is a very efficient and useful product for someone like myself that has chronic back pain. 2-3 sessions and I find that I feel much better and can continue working while I use the unit. Overall, I am very pleased and it is well worth the cost. Yes, it is definitely the home version for electro therapy but the relief it provides is excellent. I would recommend to anyone that has back pain but that does not require the continual use of pain medication for relief. This unit will not likely help those levels of pain.

I have been having back spasms lately and am under the care of a chiropractor. He said a home unit would be very helpful and this one is great. This unit allows me to select the exact type of electro therapy that feels the best. It's easy to use and I get great relief using it. I have used the stick on pads about 20 times and they still adhere very well. Using this unit helps me heal faster. It's great for a day where I just overdid myself and I can use it on almost any muscle soreness. Much better than taking the OTC pills. For the price, I highly recommend this unit.

I purchased this because it was a Deal of the Day and seemed a good alternative to medicine all the time. My shoulder was hurting so I decided to try it. I used twice early in the day (they say no more than 3 times a day). I didn't think it worked, but later it was feeling great and hasn't bothered me since. Some reviews say it isn't powerful enough: I didn't really feel anything on 1, but 2 was plenty- I can't imagine 10. A friend of mine that has a lot of physical issues said they use them at the doctors and the pads will become more resistive as they get older- thereby providing less power; that may be a good time to change the pads. She's gone from feeling nothing on old pad to over-shocked with the new. Good healthy alternative!

The directions for this product are very straightforward. Once the supplied AAA batteries are installed and the plastic protectors from the pads removed, the unit is ready for use. After attaching the pads to the affected muscle as shown in the manual, I turned on the unit and cranked the Intensity up to 10... Nothing! Absolutely nothing happened... Not even a tickle on my skin... Thinking the supplied batteries were old, I replaced the batteries with fresh ones and repeated the procedure... Again, nothing happened... The manual says I should expect "variations of tapping, tingling, massage-like sensations or even mild muscle contractions... I'm getting nothing.I reviewed the instructions for use which couldn't be simpler: remove the protectors from the pads and apply to the desired area and plug the pad-cord into the unit. Press the power and mode buttons then set the intensity. Not much to screw up here.At this point, having thrown away the copious plastic and paper packaging, I can't really return the product. So I'm stuck with a product that doesn't seem to work right out of the box as advertised. Very disappointing considering Omron is a leader in its field.
