Comfort is Well Worth The Money
So prior to my ROHO purchase, I've used a thick memory foam cushion at my home and office computer. Because of a medical condition, I lead a pretty sedentary lifestyle but I'm still able to get up and move around my house, go to the store, etc. Then I fell and broke my femur and went to a rehab facility for 2 weeks. After a couple days mostly sitting in a wheelchair, I developed a pressure sore and they provided the ROHO cushion that I ended up purchasing. The ROHO, coupled with Calmoseptine ointment healed the sore. When I came home, we had to spend a bit of money on adjustments to our house to get me situated, so I thought I could get by with just pillows or the foam cushion on my wheelchair. (I did snap a picture of the tag from the ROHO model at rehab just in case.) I was so uncomfortable and so wrong! I bought the ROHO and it came quickly via Amazon so I didn't have to be in pain for much longer. When it arrived, my husband inflated it and I sat down and "thought" because I was sitting on literally...air...that it would be fine. After a couple days, I was still uncomfortable - not as much as before - but couldn't tell if the cushion had the same feel as in rehab. Day by day, I let a little more air out so it actually sunk in a bit, and I feel it's even better than in rehab. You will have to adjust it to what feels best for you! I am working 60 hours a week sitting at my computer and more time in my wheelchair cooking (I am still progressing slowly and not 100% recovered yet) BUT no pressure sores or discomfort. Best of all, ROHO is made in the USA, as I have been trying to contribute to our country's livelihood more than ever. I know I was lucky to have "test-driven" this cushion before purchasing, but in my situation, it was a lifesaver.

Expensive but Worth the Cost
I rarely write reviews, but if this helps someone make the right choice, itโs worth it. My father was recently diagnosed with dementia, and on top of everything else, he developed severe pressure ulcers. They were so painful and discouraging that he began to lose hope. We tried two other cushions with no improvement before finally purchasing this one, even though it was expensive. I am so grateful we did. Within one week we saw improvement, and within a month the ulcers that had been there for months were completely healed. At his appointment, even the doctor was amazed and told my dad to โmake this cushion his new best friend.โ He also admitted he hadnโt recommended it earlier because the cost isnโt covered by insurance. This cushion gave my dad relief, healing, and a renewed spirit. Iโm thankful to the reviewers who encouraged me to buy it, and I hope sharing our experience helps someone else find the same comfort and results.

Best cushion I've ever used.
I"ve dealt with the problem of pressure sores my whole life; born paraplegic and in and out of chairs all my life. Now in last 5 years, permanently confined. This is the BEST cushion I have ever used. and to me worth the cost. Other air filled and gel filled cushions worked okay, but still always had sores once in a while. Having the 4" height really helps, as I am 180 lbs so really need those 4" to allow enough space to let out enough air so that I really sit IN the cushion, not on it. With less than 4", by the time you get it soft enough to sink comfortably into, your butt is touching the seat top underneath the cushion. Sadly, most insurances won't cover, including Medicare, because it is considered 'luxury' item due to price. Yet, if you get a pressure sore, the insurance company will pay far more in medical costs to treat the sores, instead of paying for the cushion and preventing them in the first place. Sigh... Before you buy, go to the ROHO site, there are many variations of this basic design, do your research. There are multi chamber, recessed, inclined, bi-lateral versions, and different dimensions. Your needs may require a different design, and don't skimp, get the fitted slip cover. It keeps the air bladders from 'spreading' out. The sores I had for months on my butt prior to getting this cushion on the recommendation of my therapist, healed within two weeks. And since then have had NO pressure sores develop. It's an investment in your health; if you can afford it, get a ROHO.

I bought the Roho Cushion and that was the best cushion that I could have gotten for her to ...
While in the hospitals then several rehabs, my mother had a sore and they let it get to stage 4 before letting me know...she had to have surgery and they also had to take a part of her tailbone out. I bought the Roho Cushion and that was the best cushion that I could have gotten for her to sit on,she is 92 years old. I am still using it for her 7 months later. Wound is almost healed. Great Product... a must to have when you can't sit for long periods of time, it is so comfortable for her. Love it!

Me--I'm snake-bit!
This the 2nd of two Roho cushions I purchased in the past few days and this new one has the same valve problem i.e. the valve turns to open and let you pump air into the cushion but will then refuses to close, allowing the air to slowly leak out. For this kind of money one should not have to deal with this valve problem, One valve, OK, maybe----but 2 in a row? Wise up Roho. A lot of money for a lot of trouble. I cant send it back as I don't have the money for a new one---AGAIN!!!! Besides. I have to have something to sit on even if I have to pump it back up every few minutes or so. I am in a quandary of great proportions! I guess this is what happens when you have "cornered the market", ---I'm just sayin' This is a retraction of the above statement with full apologies to Roho! This morning, out of sheer desperation, I took a pair of pliers and gave the valve in question one last "tweak" (rather a violent twist!) and whatever was preventing the valve from operating as it should was either dislodged or snapped, freeing the valve. Once again, my apologies to Roho, The cushion itself was never the issue, simply a stuck valve. Now I have my comfortable seat back and am as happy as a clam! (Do clams get happy?) Sorry 'bout that!

Roho seats-incredible! PLEASE DONโT LET IT BE A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. Read Review
It's a coincidence you are asking this question. Literally, the high profile wheelchair roho seat cushion I recently purchased, has just started to leak. I have never had any of the original roho seat cushions leak, not once in the last 4.5 yrs. I believe it's do to the new plastic valve they are now using vs the metal valve. Also, I have ordered 7 previously, & they have all been the same (use to use as backups). This last purchase I made for a high profile roho seat is entirely different; the rubber is not as thick, size a little off (too big), valve was located to the left-if facing wheelchair vs the right side, which the valve is always to the right, when you are facing the wheelchair. This is the 1st high profile roho seat I have ever purchased that had the valve to the left & was plastic vs. metal. Even when I was trained on the air pressure (4.5 yrs ago), I should use for my adult daughter who was involved in a fatal car wreck & acquired severe brain damage (DAI), severe- short term memory loss, & many secondary injuries-related & unrelated to the fatal car wreck, I was also trained to perform the weight shifts (A MUST) using a quickie iris tilt in space wheelchair (which is the wheelchair my daughter must have) by the staff at the rehab. facility, as she can't perform the weight shifts on her own because of her right knee & foot. I was told after each weight shift, to ensure the roho cushion was still positioned all the way to the back, on the wheelchairs metal seat plate (cushion cover-zipper always faces to the back of the wheelchair) as it may slide when sitting my daughter up after the weight shifts. The weight shifts are mandatory, as most people think if sitting on the roho seat it will prevent pressure ulcers or sacral wounds. IT WILL NOT..... IF THE PERSON USING IT IS NOT MOBILE ON THEIR OWN (able to lift their body weight & adjust themselves so their hinney, back of thighs, knees, & their back are repositioned every hour while sitting on the roho seat cushion-any seat cushion-not just the roho), IT'S BASICALLY, A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. I capitalized this because it is so important the weight shifts are done, and must be done every hour on the hour, actually more often (every 30 mins) to really prevent pressure ulcers or sacral wounds. I trained on the rehab. facilities equipment until my daughters wheelchair came in (air pressure in the roho seat cushion, weight shifts, solid mesh sling & a Hoyer lift). Their Roho seats cushions were made exactly like the 7 I had (past tense-as they were STOLEN or damaged) by CNA's or hospital staff. Unfortunately, my daughter can't inform me if the air pressure is comfortable to her or not. I check it every single morning & each time she is transferred, to ensure the pressure is still accurate in the roho seat by pressing on it lightly with my hand, his one is losing air. We weigh approx. 20 lbs difference or I would sit on it to see how it feels on my hinney, but I'm lighter than my child & 3.5" shorter. She is transferred via a Hoyer & a mesh sling w/out hinney opening, as her right knee was crushed in the wreck & the neuro ICU miss it, & the rehab. facility in Atlanta, GA missed it as well. It fused (healed) itself & is now contorted 40 degrees. She was scheduled in GA to have a complete knee replacement, it can't be repaired. We moved to Florida for a myriad of reasons, & her insurance denies everything. My child's right knee & now right foot are the only things preventing my child from walking. I'm sick to my stomach about it. She is not paralyzed at all. Her ins. in FL denied my daughter to see-2 different Ortho surgeons needed for knee/foot. I now need to perform weight shifts every 30 mins, her circulation is horrible in her entire right leg, even after range of motion exercises. We never should have moved to FL. I received erroneous info prior to us moving-re: the medical care she would/could receive. She's declining rapidly-they don't care. WEIGHT SHIFT ALWAYS!
