Replacement Earpad Ear pad Cushions for Bose Around Ear AE1 & Triport 1 TP-1 Headphones

These things saved my treasured old Bose TP-1 "TriPort" headphones from extinction. I've had them since I can't remember when, and many years of lawn mowing, summer sweat, etc had eventually destroyed the original ear pads. Even the internal protective speaker screens had disintegrated into chunks and sticky black particles that got all over my ears when I wore them. These ITIS replacements were an absolutely perfect fit, easily snapping in place exactly where the originals had been. They even supplied replacement internal screens with the correct shape stick-on tape pre-applied, AND a new shirt collar clip for the cord, which I had lost long ago. My old phones now not only sound great but they look like new again. These ear pads are soft and comfortable, and appear to be of equal quality construction as the originals. I tried to buy replacements from Bose, but they said this old model was no longer supported, and just wanted to sell me new phones for ten or twenty times the cost of these replacement pads. Nice try, Bose!

I have the Bose Around Ear TP-1 headphones. My old original earpads started falling apart (black flakes, inside pads coming undone) after about 4 years of use. I was looking online for all new headphones, upset that my Bose headphones that worked well other than the earpads falling apart were no longer usable, when I saw these and realized I could save my original headphones! For the price compared to new headphones, it was definitely worth a shot. The old earpads popped off easily, and these were pretty easy to install. I used my (short) fingernail to easily pop in the plastic ring under each of the base hooks. Took about 5 minutes total for a perfect install. When wearing the headphones, I can tell that these are different pads than the originals. I will say that these pads don't form fit as well to my head, not creating a perfect suction the way the originals did when new, but in a weird way I kind of like the way these fit a little better. Maybe I just spent too long with the old ones falling apart. I've only spent one day of about 4 straight hours of use, and didn't notice any discomfort during that time. Overall, just happy to have "new" headphones again.

This was the easiest swap out I have ever performed. Pulled off the old earpads, removed the inner protective thin pads. Installed new thin pads, installed new earpads by moving your finger around the outer ring of the pad and pushing it into the "snap" retainers on the headphones. It took 5 minutes tops. They felt great and the sound of my head phones improved because with the new earpads there was no more foam in the way of the sound. They are very comfortable on the ears as well. Be careful of the cheap imitations on Amazon.com these are just like OEM replacements that cost $50. from Bose. But; there are cheapos out there for $8.99 and so forth; stay away from those. BTW: I put these on a pair of Bose TP1's. I would recommend these to anyone, replacing the $12. earpad is much better than replacing a $150 set of headphones. Great buy, great deal, excellent performance, fast shipping too.

Very nice ear pads. Went in without a hitch. Exact fit to my Bose Triports. Can't really tell any difference between these and the originals (that were disintegrating). I took off 1 star because there were absolutely no instructions included. Just a Ziploc bag with the pads inside. I managed to figure it out, and it wasn't very hard, but some instructions to let me know I was doing it right should have been included. I think there is a video on youtube, however.

After 7 years of use, the earpads were shot on our TP-1A Bose headphones. The faux-leather was peeling/crumbling, and the foam offered little padding. At one third of the price of the replacement earpads from Bose, and 1/15th the price of replacing these headphones outright with a fancy new Bose noise-cancelling headset, I was skeptical of the quality we'd receive... but I was pleasantly surprised. The foam is firm, the texture of the earpads is comfortable for wearing extended periods of time, and they fit securely into the plastic locks on the ear cups. This set even comes with fresh scrims to place over the headphone drivers if your old ones are crudded up. I don't notice any difference in sound as compared to before installation, and I have been enjoying listening to the Beatles stereo remasters all afternoon - clear enough audio to hear the kick-drum pedal squeak! Looking into seeing if this brand makes replacement earpads for our Sony MDR-7056 and Audio Technica headsets! Side note: The included headphone cable clip is worthless (the clip which attaches it to the headphone cable was broken), but we didn't even realize it came with it until we opened the package!

If you old pads are falling apart like mine were then they will replace them just fine. They snap in very snugly so be sure you are buying ones that are advertised for your headphones. I did use my pocket knife to help install them as the ring of plastic that goes under all the little clips is a very tight fit, which is what you want. So I had to use my knife to push the lip under the clips. I wouldn't recommend using a knife but some tweezers or something like that would work. These come with these black mats. Just a thin piece of material with tape on one side. I was confused as to how to install these mats and I didn't really pay attention when I removed the old ear pads so I didn't know where these go. Ok so I am an idiot and first thought they tape to the ear pads. They actually go inside the headphones and cover the speaker. My headphones still had the original mats on there and they were is great shape still so I didn't need these at all. Overall I will say that they are very soft and snap in very securely. They seem to be a perfect fit for my headphones and there is no wiggle in them. Once they are in they do not move around or come off unless you take them off. So far they are well worth the money.

I compared these to the official replacement cushions from Bose (which can still be purchased as of May 2014 - see below) Compared to the Bose cushions, these: * Had a smaller opening. This didn't cause any issues putting the headphones on, but my ears would regularly be touching the cushions once they were on. * Were not as soft. It's a bit subjective, but I think the Bose cushions were a bit more comfortable, and possibly provided a tighter seal since they molded a bit better to my head. * Were a little more difficult to install because the mounting ring wasn't as stiff, but this is very minor since installation is a one time thing. Regardless of which cushions you do use, it is **ABSOLUTELY VITAL** that you get the mounting ring underneath each and every tab of the headphones. If you do not, the sound will be noticeably worse (reduced bass response particularly). I was about to throw these in the trash until I realized my mistake, and after fixing it, I thought the sound quality was fine. In the end, I went with the official Bose replacement cushions because I found them to be more comfortable (I often wear them for several hours at a time) and thought they may have provided a little bit more passive noise reduction by sealing better around my ears (though hard to say for sure). The Bose cushions cost more (nearly $40), but for me, it was worth it for the extra comfort. I'll keep these cushions as a backup, but would purchase another set from Bose when the time comes. If you want to purchase the official Bose replacement cushions but can't find them, try calling Bose directly. I saw a review for another product where the customer did this, and I'm glad I found that tip. I have no idea why Bose doesn't list the cushions as available on their web site, but they were still selling the cushions, and ordering over the phone was pretty quick and painless.

Received these today, one day earlier than expected. :) Installation took a few minutes to figure out. No instructions are included. These don't just pop in- you need to get the hard plastic edge on the back of the pads underneath the little tabs on the earpiece. I found it easiest to push one side of the cushion in under the tabs on one side, then bend the plastic edge downward as I moved around the perimeter so it would easily slip under the rest of the tabs. A gently tug will reveal the areas where the plastic edge isn't seated. This took about 5-10 minutes to figure out once I started attempting installation. They are pretty comfortable, and although I agree with other comments stating these aren't as soft as the originals, the price is decent and I love the fact that my headphones feel like new again. All in all very happy.

The old ear-pads had dis-integrated badly. These replacements have restored the headphones back to usability(*) at a much lower price than buying new headphones. They're a pretty good match for the originals in terms of looks and comfort. (*) Well for Bose anyway, but my opinion of the headphones themselves is for a different review...

I have had my headphones for over 3 years and the cushions around the ears began to flake and break off. I saw these and thought i would trial them out for the price. My headphones now look clean and back to how they were when i first got them. Good quality to match good headphones.,

A bit fiddly to install, but all is now well - my headphones feel like new again.
