I think it could be better but I do consult this book from time to time.

Very Bad for Real Syntheses
This book has a very misleading title 'practical' is a stretch. I'm a retired chemist and synthesized nearly a million dollars worth of reagents. Organic synthesis was a small part of my career relative to analytical testing, yet this book is somewhat comical from my memory. There are a huge number of references to small scale air sensitive techniques in here, with setups that are improvised. There are less than 10 real synthetic techniques that a chemist needs to synthesize a majority of all organic reagents (not pharmaceuticals) and I'm not sure where any of them are explained in here beyond purifications. I'm not much of a fan of the author's spin on these techniques, most air sensitive compounds don't require the time and energy this author emphasizes because air sensitivity is a time weighted average. It's really a lot more simple than the way it is presented in this book. I'd only recommend this book for a novice chemist seeking another perspective than their professors, but not for any real chemist.

Good desk reference for practicing and improving organic lab techniques
An excellent handbook for organic lab techniques.Provides short background and significance of each method, and provides hints and tips for proper execution of techniques. For instance, how large should a thin-layer-chromatography plate be?How much silica should be used to pack a column for purifying a reaction of a given complexity and a given scale? This has been a convenient reference for me while working as a synthetic chemist (in training).

Great Organic Lab Handbook
Great reference for anyone starting to work in a lab that does organic chemistry. Covers everything you need to know from glassware, running reactions, purification etc. Compared to other similar books I found this one was more detailed and thorough.
