Cold War: An International History

I was lent this book by a close friend and subsequently had the opportunity to meet the author. I just now bought a copy for my own library. Carole K. Fink is an accomplished historian and has written one of the most comprehensive work in the subject that I have seen. Each chapter includes an extensive set of references: original sources, leads to further reading and even includes a section on the stories, movies, etc relevant to the time. There is enough material here to satisfy a historian and anyone interested in what it was like to live through the period of the Cold War. I lived through all of this and, while I thought I knew the period well, was surprised find out things I had merely guessed at or wondered about at the time. Not only do I recommend this book, I highly recommend it -- especially to our latest generations. They may get a better sense of what their parents and grandparents lived through.
