Labyrinth: From The Original Soundtrack Of The Jim Henson Film

No one would blame you for walking away, but chilly down, the world's not falling down...
I pre-ordered this album, planning to have it about a month ahead of my kid's birthday. The kid is a huge Labyrinth fan, having gone so far as to have Sarah and the Goblin King tattooed on their back with plans to add more characters as finances permit. When the record arrived, I checked to make sure it had survived shipping intact and found that the pressing on one side was off-center and had wee bubbles all over. I've had a few iffy-looking records that played just fine, but this one had a very unpleasant underwater distortion to the sound. I returned the record and was informed that they were out of stock and the replacement would ship when more came in. (After reading other reviews, it looks like a bad batch slipped through quality control. These things happen.)Time passed and I finally received an email that indicated that the record would be delivered ON kid's birthday. Then it arrived 2 days early! :)This time, the record was perfect and sounded just right. Kid was THRILLED to have this addition to their vinyl collection!

Chilly down, already!
Overall, this an incredible item to have for any of you vinyl collectors. The film itself is amazing, and the soundtrack matches. With the works of David Bowie and various artists, each song tells a story just like a score should. totally worth 5 stars.

Get the album and enjoy it. It IS that fabulous
You're looking at this product and thinking, oh, I don't want to be that stereotypical nostalgic Labyrinth-obsessed human obsessed with their own childhood. To which I reply, yes, yes you do. Get the album and enjoy it. It IS that fabulous.

Beautiful, mysterious and also rocking stuff!
A fine mix of beautiful, mysterious, enigmatic orchestral and Bowie's amazing rock music, it stands alone as an album though if you are familiar with the scenes they accompany in the movie, then the context makes this even more special. Let's not forget that this is a charming, fun movie and Bowie seems to complete this feel with some dignified irreverence. I gave this 4 stars simply because listening with accompaniment movie clips was reserved for 5 star. This album can really brighten a dreary day. Thanks!

Good
Was a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a dust cover. You just have the artwork and then a very thin paper sleeve that the record is in, but it makes me cringe sliding my record into that paper sleeve. The hole is also a bit too small and I found myself having to pry the poor record off the turntable, but it quickly stretched out. Besides all of that I absolutely love it

Labyrinth is absolutely timeless and very entertaining as the movie soundtrack
Labyrinth is actually one of the best of David Bowies works. He wrote and sang the songs in the movie. He appears as the Goblin King Jareth who is supposed to fall in love with the young girl Sarah. This is a not to be missed if you love David Bowie. The music composed for the film is also very memorable if you've ever seen the Labyrinth movie when it came out.

This soundtrack is great! All the favorites from the movie and then ...
This soundtrack is great! All the favorites from the movie and then a few that are assuredly in the film, but are more background music. However, these are great songs so I'm happy to have gotten the chance to hear them properly. In particular, I like the song "Sarah" although I can't place where it is in the film and am thinking about rewatching it just to find out. The style of the instrumental ones is incredibly nostalgic. It also reminds me of the soundtracks from a few video games, like Final Fantasy 9, so it feels even more nostalgic because of that. It's a short album, so you can get through it quickly, but I would say a really good one.

Warped records. But I'm still Chilly down!
The record is warped. I requested a replacement, hoping that it was a fluke. But the replacement is warped too. Really seems to only affect the beginning of the first song. I'm still giving four stars because of fast shipping and how much I love this soundtrack.

A great album, but I would have liked to have seen a better quality sleeve!
Great album and It's awesome to hear all these songs again! The only downside is that the sleeve is pretty basic, and for an album of this price especially being a reissue, I would have liked to have seen a gatefold sleeve or at least a higher gram card used for the sleeve. The record itself played fine, but again a traditional cardboard sleeve **shudders**. I think when I am paying nearly £20 for a record, I would expect to see a good quality inner and outer sleeve.Overall though, this kicks out the nostalgia factor and it's Bowie! This is 4.5 stars in my book, but not a 5 due to the sleeve.

If you like the film, you'll love this
As you'd expect, this is a CD of the soundtrack to the film Labyrinth. It features all of the well-known songs from the film, such as Magic Dance, as well as the instrumental pieces. If you're not familiar with the film, I'd recommend you watch that first, as the songs are linked to the film's storyline and would probably sound strange if you hear them for the first time out of context. This is not a typical David Bowie album! Yes, the songs are silly and very, very 80s, but that's part of their charm, and you can't deny they're catchy! My only slight complaint would be that I'm not sure all of the instrumental pieces work as pieces of music independent from the film - I found some of them (particularly the ones used to create a sense of excitement or urgency in the film) a little disjointed without the pictures to accompany them. Still, it's good that this is a complete collection of the film's soundtrack. If you enjoy the songs in all of their silliness, then don't hesitate to buy this!

One of my all-time favourite movies and the soundtrack does not disappoint. Sound quality on vinyl is always better regardless, I love it

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
personally I found this to be a great SOUNDTRACK, which is what it is. not a david bowie album, so if you're buying it with thought in mind then forget it. it's a great soundtrack to a great movie.i liked the music in the movie so I bought it. HOWEVER, if you didn't like the score or the tracks or even both then don't get it. I, personally, loved it and I would buy it again over and over. I wanted the cd so bad that I actually had to import it, but in my opinion it was worth it

Now looked on as a classic fantasy movie, Bowie ...
Now looked on as a classic fantasy movie, Bowie is unforgettable as Jareth the Goblin King and these four or five songs he wrote and sang for the soundtrack are classic Bowie. The instrumentals are also strangely enticing in their own way.

It sounds amazing
I’m in love with this record. It sounds amazing and has all the songs on it. My personal favourite song is ‘within you’ from the film and it sounded just as beautiful on the record. I would definitely recommend this record.

Dance Magic Dance
You can't not love Labyrinth and with music by Bowie it brings back the magic of a beloved childhood film. the music is really clear and crisp and the soundtrack has both instrumental and song's on it from the film.
