This thing is great! it was machined from a solid piece of aluminum meaning its gonna be tough. It is really sturdy but light. You can tell its a bit rough on one of the edges but it is going to last for a while. I tend to lose more tools to friends borrowing them than i do wear them out but for the price i don't mind if i have to lose this one because i will definitely buy another one. Definitely going to recommend this if someone needs to buy a square edge.

Perfectly designed for the job at hand. Nicely made and easily handled. Amazon processed order, shipped and delivered for less than I could buy at my local Home Depot - saving me gas and wasted time. Very intricate directions for those not familiar with rafter cuts and framing. Also great for use as a flat guide when cutting 2 Xs.

Very good product just wished the engravings where a lot smaller in to help with the accuracy of it and where painted or highlighted to read a little easier, but without going to a true blue this works great and is nice to have in your arsenal.

This is a identical to a craftsman model I had bought years ago at sears. Of course they redesigned the craftsman one And me not liking to change what I already like. But fortunately did not have to settle for used Being I am a professional contractor and found this one that is awesomely identical. What I like about it is that It has the rafter table to figure out your angles for the pitch pitchs.

This is a precision instrument, designed to be perfectly square and built to last. The etched measurements are deep and easy to read.This is a HUGE square! Also excellent for doing crosscuts with a circular saw. It comes with a very handy rafter tables and guide book.

I was surprised to find out how many Rafter Squares are not really square at all! But the Empire was perfectly 90 and 45 degree. Very sturdy with a large edge to hold firmly on boards. I am very happy that I purchased this tool.

I have the smaller one, but always need a 12". After shopping at Lowe's, Home Depot and Wally World (WalMart), I found this one on Amazon at a much better price. The construction is solid and the numbers are easy to read. I see having this square for the rest of my life. Great for cross-cutting boards up to 13" too.
