On the Way to Emmaus: Five Major Messianic Prophecies Explained

This is a powerful and scholarly exegesis of 5 major OT Messianic prophecies. But because of the methodology used more than just 5 are discussed. Dr. Doukhan allows Scripture to shed light on itself, letting the Bible become its own interpreter. The OT itself alludes to these prophecies giving clear hints as to their meaning. He also utilizes the structure of various passages to inform his conclusions, a relatively new and fresh technique that is gaining wider acceptance. Also of note was his use of ancient Jewish sources. While the Messianic fulfillment of some of these classic prophecies are disputed today, this was not the case originally. The OT case for Christ is firmly established in this volume. However, as Dr. Doukhan notes in his conclusion, the intellect may be convinced but the heart completely unmoved. In most cases it takes more than convincing logic, reason, and evidence, however Scriptural, to change a mindset. But Jesus was determined to establish the faith of his followers upon the Scriptures' testimony of Himself, as seen on the road to Emmaus. Dr. Doukhan does just this in this excellent work.

This scholarly work by Jacques Doukhan follows in the footsteps of many of his other works. While it can be a little tough at time it is worth taking the time to read.

Dr. Doukhan brings to light some of the beautiful prophecies showing that Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah of the Hebrew scriptures!
