SP Ableware 745350012 Scooper Plate with Suction Cup Base, Blue

My son had a stroke and this came in so handy. I bought this even before he started PT and it's helped him learn to feed himself again.

Used for my patient to help keep food on the plate. Functional for the purpose

I was eager to use this "Ableware Scooper Plate with Suction Cup Base" with my 18 month old son. We are teaching him to eat from a plate, instead of putting food directly on his high chair tray. The concept is great, but this product failed miserably. First, let me tell you what I like about this plate. The high, curved rim works great to help get food on a fork or spoon. I also like the size of this plate. It works nicely for a toddler, but I think it's too small for adult use. Unfortunately, that's all of my positive comments. The plate has 2 separate pieces, the plate & a rubber suction ring. The rubber ring does not fit snugly onto the ring on the bottom of the plate (it slips off very easily). When we were lucky to get the rubber ring attached to the bottom of the plate, we encountered the next issue. The suction cup does not stay attached to a plastic high chair tray, a wood table or a plastic placemat. The one time we were able to get the plate and suction cup securely attached to a surface, my son pulled the plate out of the suction cup base without any trouble. We are still using the plate, but without the suction cup base. My sole reason for this purchase was the suction cup base to keep the plate in place. Are there similar products available? I have not tried any other products like this one. Did this product meet expectations? NO Would I recommend this product? NO

I would’ve given 5 stars had it come with two rubber nonstick bottoms. They’ve lasted rubber attachment loses its shape after a few months and makes it difficult to fit to the bottom of the plate & bowl

I bought this for my son after speaking with his therapists. My son is visually impaired and was having issues with keeping food on his plate when using utensils, he eventually gave up on utensils and it was a fight every meal. With the addition of this plate (we also have the bowl) meal time is no longer a fight and he is successfully using his utensils again because of the plates ability to not only keep the food on the fork/spoon but help scoop it on as well.

Good idea, but this doesn't quite cut it. The suction part is not attached to the bowl, and is difficult to get it to stay on. The bowl itself is a good shape and makes eating easier, but I wish the suction rim would be permanantly attached.

Plate too small

The plate works ok. I cut up my Mother food before I put it on the plate. I wish it was made of a harder plastic but all in all it works fine. She has AMD and Alzheimer plus dementia.

I didn't look at the dimensions... it is a nice plate but small
