A great book to add to my library
I've been reading several different books on dreams lately. This is one of the better ones. James Goll and his wife Michal Ann give a well-rounded look at dreams from a Biblical standpoint, getting back to the Biblical belief that dreams are a key way that God talks to us. They cover the various types of dreams and their sources (not all are from God) and discuss how to distinguish the source of a dream, as well as what type of response the dream might be requiring from us (most often it's prayer or intercession). They also give lots of practical insights into the things that hinder or interfere with our ability to dream or recall our dreams and the things we can do to increase and encourage our ability to recall our dreams.Of course no dream book would be any good if it doesn't equip us in some way to better understand and interpret our dreams. There is a ''dream dictionary' appended to this book and, all told, I believe it does an adequate job of getting the reader started in understanding God's dream language, through generous examples of various kinds. God speaks in metaphors - many are Biblical, some are plays on words or puns, some are simply personal symbols unique to our own lives. Part of the adventure is learning God's dream language for ourselves. The authors are both highly prophetic, and I found the anecdotes that they shared from their lives - of their backgrounds, their dreams, and their failures and growth in this area of dream interpretation (and the prophetic in general) to be fascinating and very encouraging.

Good book
I gave four stars instead of 5 because this is a great book, but some of the dream symbols in the back contradict what he has written about in the book. For example, he says dreams of dogs mean loyalty, but in the back of the book, it says it means religious hypocrites. Again, the book has fantastic information, and I know that it would also depend on the context of the dog in your dream, it just might be a bit confusing for someone who was newer to this area of study. Definitely worth the purchase though.

Learn about dreams!
I wanted to learn more about christian dream interpretation and I'm glad I found the Goll's. There is much wisdom in this book. I'll have to read it again to get it all in. I've sticky marked so many pages it isn't funny. If you want to learn the who, what and why of dreams then I would get this as a first. There are tons of examples throughout and a list of symbols at the back. The list is for beginning level. I can't say enough about this book. I can finally get meaning from my dreams. They mention the importance of a dream journal. Now is the time to really focus and rest in knowing that God will reveal in His time, in His way. But I know the difference now of why some are dark, intense, powerful, personal, national or whatever. They make the point that "Interpretations belong to God". What you dream is likely a symbol for something you should search God for, in His word, etc. This book has helped me so much. I can't even put the majority of what's in the book. It is filled with examples of their own dreams and interpretations. (If you need more insight I recommend "Prophets and Psychics" at streamsministries.) After this book you'll want more prophetic symbolism, I recommend Paula A. Price and Ira Milligan, don't forget John Paul Jackson and Jim Driscoll.

Buy this book if God is giving you dreams that you need help interpreting.
Very helpful book. There is a dream dictionary in there to use as a guideline. I loved the personal stories in here, they ministered to me; I wasn't expecting that. Especially the story that his wife told about how God met her in a time of need, it's a story I go back to again and again since it shows that God wants to talk to us, we just need to be willing. If you read this expecting it to tell you exactly what one of your dreams mean, you might be disappointed because that's not how this works. Rather, he gives you the tools and steps to seek God and receive from Him the interpretation of the dream he gave you.

One of the best biblical dream books I have read
Very informative. One of the best biblical dream books I have read. It truly encourages you to begin to understand the language that God is speaking to you in your dreams. Instead of giving you just a dictionary of symbols and their meanings it takes you into a deeper place with the Lord to understand the creative ways that He loves to speak to you. Other books on dreams give you merely a dictionary of symbols but God does not always speak the same things to everyone in the same way. I love how it is more about deepening your relationship with the Lord and getting your mind and heart ready to receive what God has to say. Its about knowing and understanding God's word and how He speaks. I love it.
