Saint of the Day: The Definitive Guide to the Saints

I purchased this book to replace an older version that was in our sacristy in my Church. It was time to get an updated version that included recent canonized Saints, such as Saint Pope John Paul II and Saint Kateri Tekawitha. Our Pastor uses this book during his homily to talk about a Saint on their day.

This book, although not an encyclopedia of all of the Saints, provides an excellent history of some of the most important Saints. The descriptions are brief, well written and interesting. I just completed reading it and plan to read it again next year.

This is a great source. I think it's the same book that is read every morning on the Catholic radio station I listen to. It's good to know that I can read it, if I missed something.Unfortunately, it doesn't have 365 entries, but it has all, or most, of the good ones.

Gift for daughter!

I love the brief daily summaries of the lives of ordinary, sinful and imperfect human beings who by finding Jesus Christ and following His humility and love for others, carrying their own crosses in a life of utter sacrificial surrender of their own for others, the ultimate sacrifice of giving their own lives for others bonded by their love for Christ. Saints - that's who they are.

I am a middle aged Catholic who has never read much about the saints. Towards the end of 2020, I decided it was about time I did so I purchased this book. What really attracted me to this one in particular was the 'saint for every day' concept. I wanted something that would give me some impetus for daily prayer and this encourages me to read about prayerful people which then inspires me to pray. I'm having a wonderful time spending a few quiet minutes with the saint of the day every day.

Easy to read and really interesting. You could probably read it twice it’s almost like a daily ritual of remembrance.
