The Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Travel

Fun reading
The other name for our guest bathroom is the “library”. I always like to keep a few short reads in there so while you are occupied doing one thing you can enlighten yourself. People sometimes come out of the bathroom laughing. I hope we never have to use these solutions, but it is a fun read.

Great for a worriwr who want to be to solve any problem
I always buy my family small presents for our family vacations. For last year's road trip I made survival bags for my husband and son to keep them busy on the road since I did all the driving (with my car sickness it is easier for me to drive). This was one of the items in my husband's bag. He is a worrier who stresses about everything, really over the top things as well. He loved this book because he actually worries about the extreme things in this book and felt better knowing how to handle them. He found them fscinating and informative. I plan to buy him the rest of the series.

Are you taking a trip?
While I am not a traveler, I found this book rather interesting with all the safety and common sense tips. First off, I would avoid the dangerous countries like the plague, but find the traveling tips like how to pack and how to carry money useful. Learning how to handle situations with predatory people is a must and knowing how to handle yourself in dangerous situations is a lifesaver. A helpful subtitle could be "Things that are good to know".

Hilarious but still helpful
Though luckily I have not had any of these scenarios occur while traveling abroad, this book is definitely something I pack with me every time I travel. I don't expect to need to jump from rooftop to rooftop or to navigate a minefield, but this book does prove to be very entertaining on a long plane ride and is a great comfort just to have. There is some repeated content from other "Worst Case Scenario" books, but I think most of them are relevant to travel. My favorite part is the strategies and phrases in the back of the book. They're hilarious and pretty informative.

Great for the person who worries about everything.
I have to admit, I am one of those neurotic folks who wonders about the "what ifs" in life. I found this book to be very informative. It made me feel more relaxed about travel knowing how to handle jumping from a train (boy was I wrong about that one) to not taking my passport around with me. It also has some lighthearted aspects, such as the UFO abduction section.

Fairly stupid book
This is the first of the Survival series I've read and will be the last. I just don't get it. The scenarios in this book are either absurd (alien abductions) or simply remote and therefore not useful. And the solutions are not particularly accurate or helpful in some cases. For instance, "How to Crash-land a Plane on Water" says "...remove the pilot from the pilot's seat." Just that one step will be very difficult to do with an unconscious person in a small airplane, and many of the remaining instructions are equally trivialized or irrelevant.Maybe some of the scenarios and instructions are supposed to be funny, but the book was neither humorous or informative. I wouldn't recommended it as a free gift.

Fun, informative read
My daughter enjoyed this book a great deal, there is some very practical advice in it! There may also be some less than practical advice, but I'll let you form your own opinions about that. Overall this was a really good gift and I'm glad to have purchased it! It went over very well.

I'm giving it five stars but have to confess I haven't read it. I desperately needed to send a present to someone quickly. This did the job and they seemed to find it a good read. If they are just being tactful and it is apalling I am very sorry.

childish but funny
in a camp way, good toilet read. Outrageous situations treated as a 50's handbook would. Don't rely on it when travelling!

..another gem from Borgenicht & Piven.!
I fell in love with this series after a neighbour bought me the first book. Definitely worth taking a look at. They are witty, yet take each scenario as if they were happening..giving instruction & advice by qualified people - just incase.!I'm totally hooked, even buying the game.!
