Didn't work for my 1990's overhead door model 455
Ordered this remote to hopefully replace an old one that would only work half of the time. I've got a really old opener it's a overhead door model 455, it's back from the early 1990's. This remote is supposed to have the capability of programming for this old of an opener. Unfortunately I could not get it work for my opener and that could be the incompatibility of the remote or the lack of being able to get the opener into the proper learning mode to accept the new remote. But not all is lost because my old remote had a single button on it that was bad. So I opened both remotes to take a look at the buttons and eureka they are the same. So I unsoldered the middle button off the new remote and soldered it on to the old remote. Boom fixed lol. So I've still got 2 working buttons on this new remote in hopes maybe it'll work at the next place I move to. So I'm giving 4 stars since it might not be the new remotes problem for not working my old opener. And at least I got what I wanted, a working garage door opener.

So far this has worked great. I've had it a little over a week
So far this has worked great. I've had it a little over a week. It arrived on time, was packaged well and even came with a battery. It's very easy to program. Frankly I didn't even read the instructions. I used a small ladder to reach the garage door box overhead. Programming only required holding the large button down on the remote and pressing one of the small red buttons on my overhead. I only programmed the large button as I only have the one garage door. Good product, very pleased! Oh, also, it's a very lite touch and responsive remote. My old one I had to press hard and a few times to get it to work, this one only needs one lite tap of the button and up goes the door! Very happy.

So glad I found this!
I just bought a house with an old Overhead Door Legacy garage opener and wasn't sure what I would be able to find that was compatible. I wasn't even sure how old it was. I really appreciated the reviews with pictures (the picture of the opener splattered with paint with the popcorn ceiling looks exactly like mine)! It was a little tricky to program. I followed the instructions, and when they didn't quite work for me I just started from the beginning and kept pressing the button (only one button works with my old opener - the right one) until it did. Bought 2 - for some reason mine programmed faster than his. But now they both work great! We've been using them for a little over a month with zero problems.

VERY pleased- works with our Overhead Door garage door opener
When moving into our new house, the previous owners said they did not have a working garage door remote and had been unable to program the garage door opener to their cars (or any other universal remote they tried). Given the cost of purchasing an entirely new garage door opener, I wanted to at least try this first. AND IT WORKED!! I'm not sure what brands/remotes the previous owners tried, nor can I vouch for the fact that this remote would work for any other opener than ours, but we were successful with this one and I couldn't be more pleased! The garage door opener we have:Made by: Overhead Door CorporationModel #: 696CD/BAge: the house was built in the 1980s and I'm guessing the opener is original

Perfect replacement for Overhead Legacy 496 series
Didn't see my model reviewed, so thought I'd add it works perfectly with 496CD/B -- 1/3 HP Legacy model.See my pictures above for the original and replacement openers side by side. OCDT-1 is the original, cost is about 5x this one and it (the original) is very finicky. The new one is easy to use.Easy to pair, just press the learn code button once and release. Then press the desired button on the remote twice. Again, see pic above for a visual.Be careful, if you hold the learn code button for 10 seconds or longer it erases all paired openers. Just press and release once.

Works great!
This is my second Genie remote. Several years ago I bought one for myself. My parents garage door opener went out so I recently bought another one for them. It works great. It is easy to program. However if it is an older door (which my parents has an older door) you will have to use the smaller buttons either on the right or left hand side.

Nice price, does the trick.
This remote worked for my "Overhead Door" brand opener on my garage. I wasn't sure how old my garage door opener was but thanks to someone's question/answer, I was relatively confident it would be compatible. The directions were a little vague but once I figured out I needed to set it using the garage door opener machine itself hanging in the garage, it was a piece of cake. Yes, only one button on the remote is useful but I only needed one to get my door to work. :)

Not totally compatible with older garage doors
I’ve had some problems with it because I have an older garage door -it says in the instructions that only one of the buttons is compatible with my door and it is a little glitchy (meaning you have to press it a few times before it opens the door.)
