A quick tour of the shops
This is a quick overview of the shops at Sacramento. It's not overly detailed, but presents a nice cross-section of the history.

Railroad info
I was pleased to find out the history of the CP and SP rail yard in Sacramento. I have the electronic version on my tablet, and was unable to get the photos to enlarge so I could see them better. I wanted more information and more stories from the employes. It would have been nice to hear the personal stories.

History that we lived
Husband's family = multi-generation SP employees. We've ridden the rails and toured the Sacramento SP Shops. What a collection of talented, creative, problem-solving employees. They could make any part for the many massive engines used on the SP Lines. They created tools to use to create parts! A fascinating place that housed an immense work-ethic and pride in production. We miss SP. This book really brings back memories.

Much is drawn from other sources
This is a great summary for those with a casual interest. If you want more depth, refer to the on-the-Internet report from which much material is drawn or pop for the much more extensive (and expensive!) volume on the same subject by Robert Pecotich.

Good introduction
This is a good introduction to this subject. A much more detailed and costly book will soon be available from Signature Press.
