Just another german language book.
It may help some but for me it was just another boring book using very few if none at all, examples. Lots of talk about things which are completely not explained( you will have to google a lot). Nouns verbs pro nouns finite articles, no definitions.

YOU DO NEED THE PDF!!! You will miss out on some of the stuff.
22 June 2019 So far I am on page 30 out of 172? Do not be fooled you WILL NEED THE PDF file!!! They say it is not needed but you will become lost and the reader does refer to the PDF every other page. YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS BEING SAID! The German language has different female and male words the PDF is stating male while the reader says female form Er vs. Sie. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE KINDLE PDF! Go to your audible and click on the PDF file to download for IPad users to the kindle app instead of PAYING $9.99 or βFreeβ trial. Was tricky to find so be careful. If you are planning on a easy lesson of German with crappy understanding of the English language DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I have college level English and am still having trouble where they are taking me thru the basics of German. I will update this as I go along but right now I am using my IPad to read the PDF and listen to the Audible recording on my IPhone would be nice if they could combine the two as you listen along. ARE YOU READING THIS AMAZON???!!! I have been to and back from Germany several times (Years living here off and on in Bavaria) being active duty soldier. My daughter has a Masters degree in German/English Business translations so have been brow beaten by wife too who is German on me learning German. I will be going to the government sponsored German class here next month so I will be better off in the local economy. I do not wish to work with the military being far away from where I live in country and not in sync with my wifeβs holidays and time off. I will keep this updated on how I feel about the audible/PDF combo but they need some work on it.

Somewhat irritating.
Had the attempt at humor been omitted and that time used for useful teaching, I would have giving a much higher rating. I've just began the courses so I cannot rate any further than my initial reaction.

Good book, but the beginning may go too quickly for beginners
Speaking as someone who is getting back into learning German, I'm finding this book helpful. It starts out with some basic things that I already know, but quickly gets to things that I needed a refresher for. Now I'm getting into some grammatical topics that I either didn't know, or knew about them but never had them spelled out so clearly before. It's such a relief to have German grammar actually spelled out so clearly and understandably. I'm looking forward to getting further along and strengthening my German even more. The one negative thing about it is that the while it goes into the very basics in the beginning, it also has some vocabulary and uses some grammar concepts early on that may not be easy for a beginner to understand. For example, chapter 2 has the phrase 'kennen zu lernen' without introducing the word 'kennenlernen' and explaining how that turns into 'kennen zu lernen' in some cases. While it has English translations of German sentences, since the word order isn't the same between the 2 languages, it would help if it translated the words before putting them into a sentence.Still, if you have a basic understanding of German, this book will definitely help you increase your skills and teach you things clearly and simply. If this describes you then I highly recommend the book.

FINALLY A GERMAN LANGUAGE BOOK THAT IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND!
I am so happy to have found this book! It explains things in a way that is easy to understand. It covers the basics without scaring you away with a lot of wordy explanations. In other words, the author gets right to the point! There are exercises in each chapter, along with the answers. I found this to be great because I then knew if I fully understood the contents of the chapter. The short stories were fun to read, and I was amazed at how well I understood them without having to continuously look up words. By the time you get to the end of the book, you will be able to read the short stories entirely in German. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a complete beginner, or starting German A2.

Very helpful!
I have been taking many German classes over the last year and a half, but I am do not even consider myself fluent in a conversational manner. However, this book has explained things that have vexed me in a very understandable way, much unlike my class textbooks. The book is very easy to follow along with and has a nice simple design correlating throughout its pages. I would recommend this for anyone who is just starting to learn this beautiful language or to someone who like me, had a lot of learning the language through a typical class textbook.

Waste of money
This book is not at all for beginners.. This does not teach you.. it's not at all as it's written on the back of the book.. I thought it's a systematic book and as described on the cover it will teach the learner from the beginning everything the person needs to know.. but this book is just made for namesake of teaching.. it doesn't make any sense.. there's nothing systematic in it.. it totally confuses the learner bcoz it doesn't give u a proper teaching method.. waste of money..

Not good; but from a better publisher.
The lessons are not well written, almost as if they were translated from another language. Weird choices of words, ill-structured breakdowns, no real option of exercises (as the answers are directly below the questions). Have had better luck with a different publisher.Needless to say, I haven't learned German fast or easy, no thanks to this book.

Sloppily written and edited. Save your money
While the information contained in this book should be useful, and seems like a good place to start learning German, the English is very poorly written and edited to the point of being confusing. There is also contradictory and/or inaccurate information. Some examples:1) "The participle 1 is the participle of simultaneity -> it is also called present participle. ...Der vor der Schule stehende Junge ruft seinen Lehrer. ...The formation of the participle I:Infinitive + d, participle ISitzen, sitzen + d, sitzend"This is a very confusing example to start out with. If you are not yet familiar with German adjective endings, you will not understand why "stehende" ends in "de" and not just "d."Also, note the inconsistency with "participle 1" versus "participle I."2) "Plusquamperfekt: Sie war in die Schule gegangen. She has gone to school."In the above example, the English translation is in the present perfect ("she has gone") - not the pluperfect (which would be "she had gone").Then some sentences are so poorly written that they don't appear to mean anything, such as:"The past participle 2 is also called past participle.""The participle 2 is used as an adjective instead of a subset, if one action took place before the other."I haven't the slightest idea what they mean by "subset," and can only imagine it was a typo. Subset of what? The book is riddled with errors like this, making it difficult to understand the grammatical rules they are trying to describe. Does not inspire confidence that you are getting a reliable introduction to German, given the numerous mistakes in English. Don't waste your money.
