Ghost Circles: A Graphic Novel (BONE #7) [Smith, Jeff, Smith, Jeff] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Ghost Circles: A Graphic Novel (BONE #7) Review: Great books - I purchased these for my grandson and he loves them Review: Wonderful in color - Having grown up reading this, it was wonderful reread this time in a color format. I think the colored version adds a subtle level of tone to the story which previously wasn’t there; as for the story itself, this I think is my favorite volume of the nine. The writing is well, and this particular novel is gripping all the way towards the end. Jeff Smith continues to impress me, especially on rereading the story.

First book in a beautiful set
The whole series is so adorable. Who wouldn't love the main characters: Fone Bone, his cousins, his crush Thorn, and Grandma Rose? The adventures are well-paced and exciting, with a whole world of magical creatures. Each book gets more and more interesting as the well-written plot and sub-plots thicken. I've read the first series with my English Language Learners classes for years; only book one but then they get hooked and race to the library to check out the others. My own child loves the whole set. It's a classic.

Great series to share with a 6 year old
My son and I have been reading the Bone Series. He's too young to read himself just yet (he reads a little but this is a little advanced). I purchased Book 7 through Amazon because I was making another order. I must admit we were buying the others are a local bookstore. Sharing the series as been a special thing between the two of us. e love the characters and take time to look at the beautiful illustrations. We are now on Book 9 and sorry for it to end. I plan to seek out his prequel as well as a new series of campire tales from the Bone guys. My son is now trying to read the books on his own so its helping encourage his reading as well.

Diving deeper, going farther, and taking a beat to catch your breath to forge ahead
This volume entry begins with one of the most heart touching moments in the entire series and sets the tone for what you'll encounter throughout. It's got some pretty big battles, more nightmare fuel courtesy of the Hooded One and the Lord of the Locusts, and expands on the concepts of overlapping dreaming worlds and dimensions. It also has many of those hollow moments where something big happens only to leave you with a feeling of emptiness...and the need to forge ahead regardless. That's a prevalent theme in this volume, for heroes and villains alike: that need to continue. The concept of ghost circles is a very curious one and here's another moment when I see a series that's sold as kid lit giving you a concept that's very elevated. Accessible, but by no means a typical kid lit plot point Jeff Smith never panders and introducing a complex concept like ghost circles this late in the game shows that even though you think you're finishing....there's still a lot to traverse. It also shows a lot of the complex nature of main characters and I think highest on the list in this volume is Lucius followed by Grandma Ben, but all characters continue to grow, evolve, and display a depth rare in stories within any genre.

Top marks here go to Ted who gets the book going wonderfully. Okay, I needed to read this a second time to love it as I am not a fan of the Lord of the Rings type things. But on a second reading of the series, by this point, the characters that are so well-drawn not just visually but as fully developed individuals that their plight is spellbinding stuff. The fantasy elements are well-written and dont overwhelm the characters.

Reason for Reading: next in the series. This volume is one big journey as Gran'ma Ben, Thorn and the Bone cousins travel across a barren land scattered with ghost circles to reach Atheia, the ancient city of the royal family. A brief flash to the Lord of the Locusts and occassional jumps to villagers after the previous battle give a change of pace. But for the most part we have a plot-focused, forward-moving, action-high journey in progress that is a quick, enjoyable read. It's been a good 3 months since I read the last book, so it was a delight for me to come back to this series and find these old friends as delightful as ever. Humour and adventure abound, while this is quite a dark ,and a bit scary, volume. Great stuff! Just two more books to go! (and the prequel)

When my daughters were young, I wanted them to read more. I don't remember how I stumbled on the Bone series but I did, and they loved it. They devoured every bound volume, and, more importantly, continued to read other books. Jeff Smith created a wonderful series that can be read by boys or girls (or their parents).
