Nicki Fleming is a 10-year-old girl who is a natural with animals. She lives on a working Colorado ranch with her parents and younger brother. She is optimistic, generous, and compassionate, and she loves skiing almost as much as she loves animals. Nicki has a hard time saying "no" to people. Very loving
I've always loved dogs so when I got this book it really showed me how great they are. I enjoyed reading about Nicki and Sprocket and the training Nicki does for Sprocket.

Perfect
Our Granddaughter's Godfather recently moved to Colorado and this is where the book takes place and she had asked for and received the American Girl brand service dog for Christmas also--she loves animals and not so much the dolls. She is an avid reader and couldn't have been more excited about reading this book! Would give a five but haven't read the book myself.

good book for american girl fans!
i just finished reading this book it was good. The story is about 10 year old nicky who raises a service dog sprocket and learns to say no. Nicky loves to ski with her best friend becca. Nicky joins a gala group with 2 high caflooten girls heather and kris. Nicky has a little brother adam she always has to help him with math. Nicky's mom is pregnent with twins. So read this book its good for girls or anyone whos an american girl fan. Nicky is 2007 and she is 1 and in grade 4th ats when i was in 4th grade too in 2007!

I like A G books because they tell you interesting stuff and this book did I really liked Sprocket and how Nicki handled him

Very educational and exciting story for young women.
Lovely story addressing many of the issues of young girls becoming women. Sheds light on the therapy dog program. Also on living in Colorado, and coping with feeling "different". Exceptionally good, as are most of the American Girl books.

Awesome book!!!
Good book makes you feel as if it's you who's training sprocket. Also read "Because of Nicki" a heart-warming story.

Great Book! I especially enjoyed reading about Nicki training Sprocket, the service dog. A good book for any girl who loves animals!
