![[Color at Random]Leak Proof Plastic Mason Jar Lids for Wide Mouth & Regular Mouth - Reusable Plastic Storage Caps/Tops for Ball Jar Lids, Pack of 14](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61dbiWiU-fL._AC_SL3840_.jpg)

Review: Very useful - Wish these came in wide-mouth OR regular-mouth size rather than a mixed set since I don't often use the latter. Still these are great tops, especially for certain situations where the tops can get stuck. The little tab on the lids gives you extra leverage for removing them. They fit well and go on and off easily, providing a leak-proof seal. When I store certain things in my Mason jars and access them multiple times, the jar rims can get sticky making lid removal difficult. These are especially good in those situations, or when I'm freezing something in the jars and moisture on the jar rim freezes the lid on extra tight. The regular mouth size is particularly good on opened jelly jars. The rim seems to get sticky immediately. Once I've opened a jar of something I've canned, I find reusing the two part lids sort of a pain and replace them with a plastic lids if I have to get into the jar repeatedly. These work for everything but I save them for use when the jar's contents make repeated access a challenge. They are especially helpful if you have hand strength issues or little kids. Review: soup for lunch! - these are fantastic. the two piece canning lids are a pain to take on and off, so we purchased one piece plastic lids for our mason jars. these worked for jams and jellies, but really didn't make a truly watertight seal like these do. you do need to make sure the gasket is seated properly and they can be a little difficult to take out (i use a chopstick), but i like the ability to make sure everything gets clean. the side tab makes it easy to tighten and loosen as well. it would be nice to be able to get either standard or large mouth lids instead of a mixed bag. that being said, this was great for a starter set and not worth deducting any stars. we've had these now for several years and they've held up without issue. makes great gifts to anyone who uses mason jars. and now it's easy to take soup for lunch!

I like these lids very much in addition to other style lids
The plastic silicone rings to keep the lids leak proof are removable in a recessed track on the inside of the lids and I never use those because they are a bit tedious to remove and clean especially if they are oily because they are delicate whereas the metal liners from the original jars are easier to put in and take out and work great. Besides making them leak proof the metal lids protect that recessed tract in the lid from getting food or oily because that track is more difficult to clean well. The ridges on top of the lids are great for safely stacking in your fridge or cabinet. These lids fit perfectly on Kerr jars but although they fit on Ball jars they are snug and more difficult to remove even with that handy tab on the lids to help remove the lids more easily. That is why I gave them a 4 star rating. The colors are also handy for ID-ing various formulas or for knowing a new batch from an older batch of similar contents. Unless you are traveling or shaking the jars vigorously the liners are not even necessary. You can safely shake liquids gently, but I will do that over the sink just in case the lid does not have a liner or was not tightened enough w/o a liner. But I still like to mostly use those metal liners not just because they are easy to use and clean, but they prevent strong odors of foods from tainting the inner lids.

These are perfect
I used to can so I have quite few different sized mason jars. The original metal lids that came with the jars were getting rusted. I bought these as a replacement. They work very well. They come with extra seals, that's a plus. The lids come in two sizes, regular and 18oz wide mouth. One caveat, I don't know if these are suitable for canning, for obvious reasons (no popping or indentation). Perhaps you can as they do seal well. I do not intend to can with them. The lids do absorb strong odors. They seal very tight so, if you turn the cap tightly it will be very hard to get off. I have had to gauge how much torque to use on the lids when sealing the jars so, that they are not so tight that I cannot get the lids off or too loose so that it leaks. Trial and error. Overall I like the lids. They are a very good replacement for my rusty ones. I am happy with my purchase.

Just as advertised, leak-proof plastic lids
On Ball brand jars, both sizes fit perfectly. The silicone ring stays in place better than expected, they nest perfectly inside the lids (a quick whack against the opposite hand releases them to wash). So far these are great for tea & yogurt, no spills/leaks at all, even after shaking. I hand-wash in warm, soapy water to prevent scratches and breakage, also because I am the dishwasher. I follow an earlier recommendation to close them *almost* all the way, since temperature/pressure changes can make lid removal more difficult. The colors are great (as manufacturer photo), no defects found in the set I received, and packaging is well done, too.

Simple, clean, practical design.
I have replaced most of the plastic storage AND drinkware in my home with mason jars. Itโs just more space saving and cost effective, and I donโt have to worry about them in the microwave or dishwasher. I really like the design of these lids to replace the canning lids - the rubber gasket means you can get a great seal and thereโs a little thumb rest to help you get a good grip to open it again. I hate washing anything by hand so the fact that I can remove the gasket and pop the lid in the dishwasher makes me happy. No super tight grooves in these to hold on to schmutz.

One of the best lids for canning jars!
I absolutely love these lids. I brought 2 sets of them. The silicone sealing rings really work! I love that they have a set of regular and wide mouth since I use both types. And I have an option of using the silicone sealing ring if I want. I tend not to use them when I have ferments on the shelf. I love that there is a notch that sticks out on the lid so my arthritic hands can open them because I don't have to grab so much around the jar. And the best thing is the jars can be stacked on top of each other. The plastic lids that I buy don't do this and slide right off each other. And there is rainbow of colors!!! I use a china marker on the lids. I have yet to use a permanent marker. I would think some oil rub would take it right out.

Harder to remove than Ball's own lids.
I have used Ball's own plastic lids with good success. But when I saw these lids, I liked the colors, the little thumb lever, and the idea of a silicone seal, and it was a lot of lids for the money. What I found out the hard way is that the silicone gasket adds a lot of friction, so you have to turn the lid hard to snug it down, and it can take a lot of force to open the lid. That little thumb lever is there for a reason! The silicone seals have to be installed into the lid. It seems like it would be a good idea to remove them once in a while when washing, to clean any dried liquids that may get underneath. A bit of a chore. You can use the lid without the seal, but the lid will leak without it. In contrast the Ball lids do not have a separate seal. There is a plastic ridge molded within the cap that has a beveled edge. This edge compresses against the inside lip of the jar for a leakproof seal. Since it is smooth plastic, it does not add any friction, so the Ball lids are much easier to tighten and remove. And since there is no separate seal, they are easier to clean. I just throw mine as is into the dishwasher; the label inside the lid says they are dishwasher safe. So bottom line, these nice colored lids may be fine for some, but if you or a loved one has arthritis or otherwise have problems opening jar lids, the Ball brand lids will probably be a better choice. Wonderful, colorful/colourful lids with great seal.
These are bright and colorful/colourful. Wonderful to seal kimchi or milk kefir that has finished fermenting. So far I am very pleased with these lids. Be aware that screwing the lids on tightly, then refrigerating the jar of whatever, the lids are hard to open (at least for my older hands). I can't complain about the seal! Just leave the jar sitting on the counter for two or three minutes and it will be easier to open the lid.

Great for everyday use
Metal canning lids are great for heat-canning foods. But if you are using your mason jars for everyday items like leftovers, home-made yoghurt, or other non-canning uses, these make using the jars much easier. The little tabs on the lid make it much easier to open/close, especially for those that might have a manual limitation such as arthritis, or for those that are worried about slicing their fingers on the metal lids. Smooth enough that it's easy to write on them with water-erasable markers. The lids also allow stacking jars a bit more secure than stacking on the metal lids. 7 is a strange number of lids, but I'm likely to buy another set soon.

Fantastic
Great product. Used for an oil infusion and doesn't leak even though I forgot the gasket.

Almostโฆ Perfect plastic lids
Just an update: On a couple of the gifts I gave away the lids have been broken. I am not sure how this happened but they are not as sturdy as I thought. I, personally have not had this problem but I reduced the rating from 5 to 4 because of this. I would still buy this product again. I have bought a couple of packs now and they are perfect for my jars. I use mason jars for storing so much of my pantry items. I have got them also to give away gifts like toilet bowl bombs. They are good looking and will not rust like the metal lids and seal well to keep the bombs dry. They are also easy to open because of the tab built into the lid.
