Review: love this book - I love the detail of explanation and the beautiful projects in it. They are easy and well explained plus the patterns available, amazing! Review: Great Introduction to Sashiko - This is a great book for anyone trying to learn Sashiko for either making new pieces or mending old ones. This offers the most detailed and comprehensive package that I have come across so far. Like many people, I am always frustrated by the prospect of throwing away my favorite pair of jeans. It seems like they are just getting broken in when they blow out in one place or another. I have recently turned to mending my clothing to get more life out of them, and I am so glad that I did. This takes the concept of mending one step further: as an opportunity to embellish and beautify your garment. I much prefer the Sashiko-style patches to the garish and random machine-patches that I have made in the past, particularly if the patch is in a visible location. This book serves as both an inspiration and a powerful tutorial. There is enough information here to get you started at the ground-level and take you much further into making very complex and intricate Sashiko patterns. After buying a few of the most popular books on desertcart about mending, this is the one that I have used most often!

Great Introduction to Sashiko
This is a great book for anyone trying to learn Sashiko for either making new pieces or mending old ones. This offers the most detailed and comprehensive package that I have come across so far. This is the book you need
This is the book I keep returning to as I'm learning sashiko for mending and embellishing. Jessica provides clear, complete instructions and photos of a variety of techniques. I've been hand sewing for many years and still picked up some tips. From mending instructions to projects using sashiko to the excellent pattern collection with instructions for creating your own sashiko patterns, this book is a gem.

Clearly the best!
Excellent guide to Sashiko especially with respect to mending! Very good layout highlighting her clear, concise instructions including good photos. She has done great research, integrating traditional Shashiko patterns and methods. I am so glad I selected her modest, beauty of a guide!

Yes! You WILL use this book!
My sister ended up buying me this book for Christmas. I love it so much. The resources list in the back is legitimate!! I have already started mending things!! The pictures are clear and the text is concise and easy to follow. It is inspirational AND a book you will actually follow through with!

I love this book!
I definitely did not need another book on textiles or stitching, but this book is a must for anyone who loves making with their hands, believes in and has a desire to up-cycle, a passion to make beautiful treasures and heirlooms, and has environmental concerns. I am a metalsmith and jewelry designer and I incorporate textile and Belgian Bobbin lace within my work. I am excited to see how can include even more beautiful and meaningful stitching. The book is well written and Jessica is very helpful. I will be posting images of what I come up with.

A great reference book for sashiko and mending
This book has given me great information about sashiko, what threads to use, what equipment is useful, and how to go about using sashiko designs to mend garments of all kinds. There are projects to help you improve your skills and lots and lots of colored photos. And there is a pattern collection which shows finished designs and well as line drawings to show how to achieve these designs. This is a wonderful little book with great ideas on how to become more proficient with hand sewing and mending.
