Nice thick cotton canvas. It's not the least bit waterproof though. I was soaked through by the end of the ride. I'm not exactly sure what these things are for. Maybe just to look like a cowboy? Runs big. I bought the large and it still fits a little big. For reference, I'm 6'6" 255 lbs and wearing a warm chore coat underneath in the picture. It's going to get dirty. I picked up saddle oil stain, blue jean die, mud, and some other red die on this very wet and muddy ride. That being said, with some stain pre treatment, most of the stains came out. I'm thinking of waxing the coat with bee's wax, paraffin, and linseed oil for stain and water resistance, but like I said, it's good lookin' and I don't want to mess that up. The problem is, if it's just a trophy coat, I haven't got a lot of use for it.
