My family tends to eat medium spicy food, which means I have been on the lookout for a brand of chilli powder that gives intense color, without adding eye-watering spice levels. Other brands I bought off the store shelves have always fallen short - either too spicy or not intense in color or the worry of additives. This brand has been an answer to my search. The first thing that hit me when I opened the bag was the beautiful red-maroon color. I was so excited I inmediately tried it in a chicken dish as well as a fish dish. I kept admiring the resultant color of my dishes. Best part was, it had the right amount of spice without being overhwelming in spice levels for my young kids. What can I say, I am hooked! I can't wait to try this in more dishes ( tandoori chicken is next on my list to try this in - I can only imagine the beautiful color I will get). I am so excited I found this brand and I am definitely going to try some of their other spices. I have added a picture that shows the beautiful color. In the background is the salmon dish I used it in (family approved!!).

I’ve been OBSESSED with Tikki Masala lately and this is the PERFECT spice to use in it. It’s not overwhelming but the heat is to die for! Be sure to wash your hands VERY thoroughly after handling though because I noticed it lingers on your skin a little more than your average chili powder.

With food they say you eat with your eyes first! For Indian cooking we have been looking for the perfect blend of color, spice level, taste and smell in the chilly powder for a long time.. So happy with the purchase - we hit the jackpot with the perfect color, spice level , smell and taste! Usually to get the right color we would end up having to use a larger amount of powder which would invariably end up making the curries too spicy - but not with this variety! And the smell is great too. It is my go to chilly powder and it has only been little over a week since i got it. Can' wait to try out all the other spices as well.

Before I bought this I used paprika and Cayenne to make chicken vindaloo. This made the dish more authentic and it is excellent. It has a very nice bite to it but not too spicy. I plan to explore more recipes using it.

Amazing flavor and color! I've been using their Kashmiri whole chilies for a long time now but never tried the powder until now. I truly believe that when you cook with pure and fresh spices, you get the best results. I was looking for a chili powder that was not too spicy but would give me the red color I wanted. This Kashmiri chili powder has just that! I am glad I took a chance and ordered it because this is the best red chili powder I've tried so far and i've tried many. My family really enjoys chicken curry so I used this chili powder in it and I couldn't be more happy . Everyone in the family loved it. This will be my go to for whole chilies and powder from now on!

As a result of this fortuitous discovery, we eat Indian cuisine 2 to 3 times a week and never tire of the wonderfully diverse flavors and healthy meals.Almost all of Parveen's recipes call for Kashmiri Chili Powder which is typically a bright red and mildly hot. There are complex flavors in the best Kashmiri Chili Powders. It is truly a very special spice. Unfortunately, the Banyan Tree powder is drastically overpriced. It is a very good chili powder but definitely not worth the price charged. The best alternative we have found is the Rani brand also sold here on Amazon. It is available in a 28oz package for $13.99 for a 28oz package which is 4 times the amount of product for $2.26 less. This obscenely high price is unwarranted. When we first ordered the Banyan Tree we assumed the high price was due to the nice wooden storage container. However, when the product arrived there was no wooden container. Sadly their photo advertising is misleading and bordering on fraudulent.I hated to give this item only a single star but the price and the misleading advertising are inexcusable. At $0.50 per ounce, it would be competitively priced and warrant 5 stars. Also, the misleading photo should be removed. The photo should be representative of the actual item that is shipped.
