It looks a bit satiny in the photo, but it is not. The fabric has a rather nice weight and a good drape, and it is slightly less dark teal and more of just a dark green (the photo does look rather greeny-teal-ish on my monitor, but there is no blue in this color). It's a bit thick for a garment lining. The fabric has great 2 way stretch. If I hold it up to a light, I can see the light through, but you'd never see through this on a garment: it's quite opaque. It is not heavy, however. It's rather like polyester lining you find on some chiffon dresses.I bought a yard just to see what it looks like, and it won't work for me as I was looking for a small amount of shine, and this has NO shine, but it's still rather nice.
