Worked great for a kitten to help calm them down for daily FIP injections. The kitten was really putting up a fight with being restrained, so we used this muzzle in addition to a blanket for burrito method and the combo worked great. How the muzzle covers the eyes is essential because when the cat can't see, it helps to calm them. There is a different brand i prefer for adult cats, but the fact that this muzzle comes in different sizes helped me find the correct small size for a very young kitty.

This has saved me some trouble on a few occasions. Not all my cats like their nails clipped and some days they get fussier than usual. (Especially if someone is visiting.) All the zippers give easy access to every foot. Easy to get the cat into and out of and if you need to pull the handle to reposition the cat it does not choke or pull on their neck. I will state that a small sized adult cat will be "swimming" in it and you'll have some trouble getting at their legs even at the access points. Large cats will be very snug in this. We have a very large male cat and he fits just fine but I would imagine a large male Maine coon or Norwegian Forest cat might not be able to fit in this. I have tried to use this to help bath a cat and while it can help keep them in place it isn't practical. So if you plan on purchasing this to help bath a cat just know you'll have trouble reaching all of their body to scrub them and it doesn't have the best flat of bottoms so the cat can roll. I ended up just removing the cat from the bag and finished washing them without it. ( Adult cat was a recent stray and I wasn't sure how their bath etiquette would be. ) Takes a long while to dry out as well. Works best for nail clipping! ( I'd imagine this might be good for small dogs who need their nails clipped too! )

This works pretty well, but it only gets 4 stars because it's very, very hard to get the cat in it, and some of the velcro parts are not useful. Once you get it, open everything, then look at the long top slot that closes over the cat's spine. You'll find some velcro along about the middle under the zipper. If you try to close it before putting the cat in, you can't get the cat in. If you leave it open, it grabs the cat's fur, and you can't close it without hurting the cat. Just (carefully!) remove that velcro strip. To get the cat in, close all the zippers except the one on the top. Through trial and error, figure out how much to close that zipper so the opening starts right at the base of the cat's tail. Lay the cat on the bag, spine-zipper up, and put the velcro collar on the cat. Close it a little more snugly than you think you should, it's only for a couple of seconds. (You should still be able to get one finger between the cat and the collar.) Now starting at the butt (cat's, of course), pull the bag up, out, and around the cat. I keep my forearm along the cat's spine, and shove and zip, and shove and zip with the other hand. Once the zipper is all the way up, carefully release the velcro collar, and re-set it so it's comfy for the cat. Do not open more than one foot-zipper at a time, cats can scurry on any two feet! Open the foot-zipper just big enough to get your fingers in, and pull the whole leg out, then quickly zip closed snugly above the joint. Anything else allows the cat to pull the foot back in, unless you hang onto the foot, which can result in holding the cat up in the air by his toes! Screaming and grabbing the cat around his middle does not improve the situation by much. So, 4 stars because the learning curve is kind of drawn out, and it's still kind of tricky to get the cat in the bag every time, but once in, it really helps a lot. I only use this for claw clipping and ear inspections, not for bathing. I know it's got a lot of mesh specifically so the cat can be bathed in the bag, but the only way I can imagine doing a thorough job is by holding the bag by the upper handles and swishing the cat in a large tub of soapy water. Yes, it's a funny image, but I don't think the cat would laugh or be very lovey afterward.

Using this product sounded like it would be a good way for me to restrain my kitten, Ninja, so I could trim his nails without any bloodshed (mine or his). Turns out I had as much trouble getting him in the bag and putting the muzzle on as I would have had if I was attempting to trim his nails without using them. It was suggested in one of the other reviews to close the neckband around his neck first, then zip the bag, so that's what I tried. Ninja struggled so much, it took a very long time to get the ends of the velcro close enough to press them together. Every time I did get them together, his paw would be sticking out the same opening along with his head. A couple of times he used the paw to pull the velcro apart. Next, I tried to put the muzzle on Ninja so he wouldn't bite me as I attempted to get his back end in the bag to zip it. At first the muzzle seemed to help, but he started twisting his head so the muzzle kept sliding off to the side. I felt so bad seeing the terrified look in his eyes. At this point I was trying to get the muzzle straightened out, get the paw under his chin into the bag, and zip everything up without getting sliced by his razor-sharp claws. In the meantime, Ninja was on his back kicking, wiggling and yowling for all he was worth. The zipper has a flange underneath it so you won't catch any part of the cat in the zipper, but it kept getting in the way of getting the bag zipped up quickly. All the struggle was making Ninja more and more frantic and harder to get in the bag. After I finally got Ninja zipped up, it was hard to get his paws out of the openings you're supposed to use for that purpose because he was all twisted up inside the bag and I couldn't get him straightened out. I groped around in the bag and finally caught a paw. It was difficult to extend the claws for clipping because we were both at an odd angle. Several times Ninja yanked his paw out of my hand and back into the bag, so I had to keep digging and get it out again. At long last all the nails were clipped, but both Ninja and I were exhausted and upset. Ninja is about 4-5 months old so I had bought the smallest size bag available. Looking back, I think things may have gone better if the bag fit him more tightly, but I won't know if that's true for several months yet. I managed to get his claws clipped that time, but I don't know if I really saved myself any trouble. I'm still going to look for a better way to get the job done.

We have a large Maine Coon mix (we think--she was a stray) who has hygiene issues around her butt. We are so tired of paying a fortune at a vet we don't even like for something as simple as trimming her hair. I thought at least the hood in this kit would help. It did not. The bag itself was too small for my cat. I bought a large and was afraid it would be too big. I saw other reviewers said it worked for their Maine Coon cats, so I figured I'd give it a try. I could not zip the bag shut and some of my cat's hair ended up stuck in the zipper. I had it mostly closed and figured I would try to open the rear to get to her problem area. Guess what? She just used that as an exit. The hood/muzzle was the main part I wanted, but it is a terrible design. I don't know if others received a different hood than I did. The large did not fit her at all. I had bought a medium, thinking that the large would be too big (her head is smaller than the rest of her) and figuring I could maybe use it on one of my other cats. The medium was tiny compared to the large, and while it kind of fit her, her nose was above the hole, making it hard for her to breathe. It also covered part of her ears, which is a sensitive area for her. I guess I'm back to trying to get little bits at a time when she is calm rather than attempting to take care of all of it at once. This bag and the second hood are on their way back. Maybe it will work for your cats--the video from the one reviewer is what made me decide to give it a try. It worked for his feisty cat. Unfortunately, it is not designed for a cat the size of mine.

I got my cat when he was a feral kitten. Though he is somewhat domesticated, there is still that feral part in him that still goes back to feral basic skills when he doesn't like something. He tries to get away by using his strength, writhing, scratching and biting. For example of what he is like: I tried to give him his first bath (did not have this product yet). How did it end up? He was washed and he was angry. I was soaked, scratched all over, and lots of blood coming from my cheek where he bit me. So I decided to purchase this grooming bag and was skeptical that it would work. Instead of starting off in a bath, I would put him in this and clip his nails for the first time myself. I don't know who was scared more, him or I. With a little work and chicken, I got him in the bag and got the mask on. Now for the product review. The bag kept him from scratching me. Yay! The mask was the icing on the cat. The mask fit perfectly and there was a lot of velcro so that it had more surface strength to keep it on the cat securely. It's a good quality mask. Now about the bag. I got the medium bag. My cat is 9lbs and is very long (17" from neck to butt) and tall legs (12" from paws to back). I tell you these measurements because trying to figure out what size to get for your cat can be difficult and this might help you get an idea on what to get. When my cat was in the bag, it wasn't like the bag was tight on him and he did have movement. He tried to writhe around, but realized it was useless and succumbed to sitting there meowing loudly. It was easy to get his front paws in and out. The back paws were a little more difficult and it is because he had a little room to pull his paw back in. The back part of the bag has 2 zippers where the paws should go through to clip. It also has a zipper to open up the back to expose his butt area (I will call this the butt zipper). Maybe because he is a long cat, but there was no way that I could get a paw through one of the zipper paw openings without breaking/bending his paw or scrunching his behind to an uncomfortable position in the bag. Trying to bend his leg backward to reach that opening looked like it would have broken his leg so I didn't try it. Instead, I just unzipped a little portion of the butt zipper on one side and put his leg through that opening. It worked and I got his nails trimmed, but he was able to jerk his paw which made it a little difficult. I put that paw back in and zipped that opening closed and zipped the other side of the butt zipper and clipped that nail. Next time I will see if the actually back paw opening will work now that I have gone through successfully this time. I didn't take a picture of him in the bag because I wanted to make his first experience short and positive. Maybe I will upload a new picture next time. So the medium did not fit snugly, but still worked. If I had gotten the small, I think it might be too tight and I know it would definitively be too hard to get his back legs through the paw opening if it was a small. I hope this review helps to figure out what size to get, but I absolutely would recommend this bag. I clipped my feral cat's nails and I was not scratched once or bitten. For a chore that both the cat and I hate, this bag made it a positive experience.

After reading both good and bad reviews on this bag, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. This was a great buy for my cats! This made trimming their nails a breeze. I have 3 Tabby cats that are from the same litter. I purchased a MEDIUM bag because my cats (that need the bag) weigh in at 10lbs and 12lbs. For size requirements, I tested my 15lb rotund Tabby. He barely fit in the bag but I did get him in there. So if your cat is close to 15lbs or long-haired, I would suggest the LARGE size of this bag. As other reviewers stated, there is no directions with this bag. This is how I easily put my cats in the bag...(Praise your cat during this process to make them comfortable) 1. Leave all zippers closed except for the long one on top of bag. Make sure you open the zippers so that both zippers are at the "tail end" of the bag so that the velco area around the neck can open fully. Open all velcro, and lay bag on the table spread wide open. 2. Attach the included muzzle on your cat. The "seam" that aligns with the nose hole will go along their bottom jaw. This allows the longest part of the black canvas material to cover their eyes as well. Make sure before you velcro it closed, you position the nose hole accordingly. 3. Place your cat in the opened area as far towards the back of the bag as possible, attach the neck velcro part FIRST. Make sure it is snug enough so they can't "paw it" open but NOT too tight to cut of breathing. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably in the enclose neck area if properly attached. 4. Now, lift up the sides over your cat's back, tuck the tail in the bag, and attach the velcro closed. You may have to gently force your cat to lay down so you can secure the velcro then use the first zipper and zip the bag up towards the neck leaving second zipper at the "tail end". This long zipper should stay along the cat's spine so that you can properly utilize the other zippers to release paws for grooming. 5. Your cat should now be "snug like a bug" in the bag. You can use the handles to carry and move your cat wherever you need to at this point. They are very sturdy. 6. Finally, you can use the other zippers to release their paws for nail cutting. I found that releasing one paw zipper at a time worked best for me. I would release one zippered paw, cut the nails, tuck the paw back in, zipper it closed, and then release the next one, etc. This will prevent them (hopefully) from scratching you or getting away somehow. If your cats bite when agitated, I would suggest keeping the muzzle on. Other than that you could probably take it off once you have them in the bag. My cats stayed pretty calm once they were snug in the bag. Although, they did growl at me a couple times because they really hate getting their nails cut. Lol. I hope this helps some of you who were having trouble getting their cats in the bag. In conclusion, I'm very happy with this bag and it made cutting my cats' nails 200% easier. As far as long-term durability, I'm not sure how long it will last because the canvas is thin but it seems to be made well. But at a price point of $16.99, I would definitely buy it again if it were to rip or break. I would highly recommend this to cat owners who have trouble cutting their cats nails with ease or who don't want to pay their vet a fee to do it anymore. ;)

This mask was too small even for my tiny cat. I definitely wouldn't recommend.

My cat remained calm and unfazed by the muzzle which was easy to fit. I was able to clip his claws quickly without any apprehension on my part. I wish I had found one of these years ago...Happy Cat and Owner.

This works great. Easy to get her into and zip up. Once we are holding bag I put the hood on her. So easy to cut her nails. I bought a second one to leave at the lake. Good product for anyone with a crazy biting scratchy cat.

Can't get my cat into the bag without assist from second person. Not helpful for me as I need to use this solo. Unless you have a very laid back cat or can train from kitten to accept going into the bag, this isn't going to work...

Worked really well for our huge Maine Coone cat, we bought the large and it was perfect. Managed to trim his claws quickly and without any scratches, used the muzzle too, just as well as he tried to bite...was over in minutes. Very happy with it..

I first learned about feline muzzles when my veterinarian used one on my cat during a procedure to help control her. My cat is a rescue animal from a shelter, is extremely large and very anxious - she is not a lap cat. She goes ballistic any time a procedure needs to be done on her. I now have to give my cat injections at home and I have no assistance. I ordered the Cat Muzzle from Downtown Pet Supply as it was considerably cheaper than the one my vet sold. I used it today for the first time and the mask was easy to put on and it stayed on securely. I was able to give the injection without any problem. Even after the injection was done and my cat was moving around she could not manage to pull the muzzle off. This is a great product that ships quickly. I highly recommend this muzzle if a cat owner needs to do any injections or similar procedures on their out of control felines!
