The Burn: Why Your Scale Is Stuck and What to Eat About It Review: Worth the effort for me - I've used Haylie's FMV diet and the burn diets before. My weight loss exceeded my expectations and the typical weight loss suggested by the books. In my opinion, this is NOT an easy plan to follow, but for me the drastic improvements in my skin, long term energy level, and weight were worth the effort and money. The best part of being on the plans; particularly the I-burn and FMD is that this way of eating took away all of my joint pain, I stopped snoring, and I started to walk with a bounce in my step (instead of a feeling like stiff lethargic 53 year old). I went off the plans for a few months due to a stressful life event, but I am back on the wagon starting with the I-burn diet. I lost 7 pounds in 3 days this week. This is not typical, most of it was probably water weight, but I'm feeling better day by day. Yes the tea is difficult to drink and the smoothie is sour on the I-burn, but I view them as medicine that will make me feel better. Just a note about the I-burn smoothie- add a cup of spinach and a half stalk of celery; then make sure it is well blended. This takes away the sourness. For those reviewers that feel terrible on the diets; give them time. I too felt lethargic and run down when I first started to eat right and drink more water. It will likely pass once you have flushed the crud out of your body. As for the expense and complaints about too much food; I agree. At my age I just can't eat the serving sizes that the book mandates. Nor could I afford to spend the money each week if I followed the book's suggested recipes all of the time. I use the food lists to design my own meals and a stop eating when I feel very full. The one thing i dont alter at all is the tea, soup and smoothie. This saves money and my stomach doesn't feel uncomfortable from too much food and liquid. I also don't fret if I don't have an ingredient needed for a recipe. I just wing it and substitute something close from the allowed foods. I made the decision to tweak the plan after several rounds of following the diets to a "t" and learning what does and doesn't work for my lifestyle and body. I work 50 hours a week and spend 2 hours a day commuting, so the work to stay on these plans is not easy. I gulp the teas down fast while getting ready for work and drink my smoothie in the car. I spend 1 day of each weekend shopping and preparing food. I have never written a product review before, but felt compelled after reading all of the negative reviews. I wanted to share how eating to these plans can make you feel drastically better. Hard core FMD and burn followers will likely chide me for sharing that I tweak portion sizes, but if I did not do this I could not stay on the plans and I'd feel bloated and disgusted like many reviewers. I have Psoriatic Arthritis, slight digestive problems, and hormonal imbalance. She at 25 has some inflamation problems, lots of digestive problems and problems with not great hair, dark circles under eyes, acne. I Burn: After the 3 day burn Me: Pain free, no swollen wrists ankles or feet, tons of energy My daughter: dark eye circles gone, acne clearing, big attitude improvement. The food was the worst of the three burns, but edible, and lots of it. Never hungry. Hey it is 3 days out of your life, suck it up and do something good for your body for a change. D Burn: After 5 day burn, no more digestive problems for either of us, tons of energy. The food was our favorite for this burn. I will be going back to these recipes in the future for sure. H Burn: We are 3 days in, still lots of energy, 7 days to go I am confident. The food is really good on this burn too. In conclusion, this is not a "diet" book it is a healing/prevention book. It is for EVERYONE. It is amazing how much energy eating this way gives you. I will also say that in the process of healing you are purging the toxins in your body on these food plans. Of course you are not gonna just feel great. You feel great at the end. When you start you are eating food that gets rid of all of the crud that you have been storing in your body for years, the crud dosen't just disappear. You either pee, poop, or sweat it out. Yes, you may not feel on top of the world your first days and you may have diarrhea on certain days. I think that is expected, but I guess a lot of overweight people feel that they should feel good when they are in the process of healing their bodies and everything they put in their pie hole has to taste fantastic, but this is reality and it don't work that way. I do understand the bad reviews. The problem is that in all of the bad reviews it seems as though the reviewers are looking for a good diet cookbook. This book is for if your scale is stuck, but I look at it more of a healing book, but better yet a book to use before you start the Fast Metabolism Diet. How much better can the FMD work if you can cure some of the abuses that you have bestowed on your body before you start to try losing weight? I think a lot better. I also see the books usefulness for anyone that wants to take a few days one or two times a year to do something that will really make you feel better and de-stress your body and make it work more effeciently. My 25 year old is sold on these burns with the skin, hair, and well being improvments it made with her. As far as the food goes, no my husband wouldn't eat the I Burn food with me, but now that we went through the D Burn and are in the H Burn, we all eat the meals I make for these burns. He doesn't need to lose weight (neither does my daughter), but the meals in general are really good. They don't eat the soups or teas, but they like the foods and I only need to cook one meal for all of us. So I say to the reviewers that bomb the book for the flavor of the I burn food, and the teas, If your main concern in life is the taste of your food, don't buy the book, take the money, go buy pizzas to eat with brownies for desert and spend the money later on medications to fix your health-which don't fix your health, they just address your symptoms. I instead bought the book and Haylie showed me how to start fixing my health with results I could never get with toxic drugs like methotrexate. Let food be your medicine.

Gets you unstuck
This book has helped both my husband and I get unstuck and continue losing weight. Wish it had more recipes. The smoothies are dreadful. We simply eat the components separately or combine some ingredients as we like. My husband won't touch the teas, and two of them are so bad my eyes run the whole time I'm gulping them down. Then I brush my teeth. The meals are mostly fine, though we get her shake mix to help with the H burn, to cut down on cooking and meal repetition. The nori rolls were inedible. Ended up making shake for that meal. It gets boring, but I can do nearly anything for a week if it gets me back to losing weight. And I am losing without being hungry, and without loose, flabby skin. I'm toned, well defined, and my relatives thought my new Facebook pic was of a teenager. I'm 60. I look good in skinny jeans. And I fit into my fitted wedding dress. Just had our 38th anniversary. Relatives that have had surgery didn't lose as fast it come out looking as toned as I have. So you bet I'm happy with the fast metabolism diet. Only 10 pounds to go. Be there in about 6 weeks. Woo hoo. And I'll know how to keep it off.

love the book, but wish I had bought in book form-hard to flip through an entire book on kindle when you are looking for a certain page-recipe books should be in paper form

Ottima, come anche la dieta "madre" del Supermetabolismo, Questa perfetta dopo stravizi o festività. Ho sostituito facilmente gli alimenti poco reperibili da noi. Consigliatissima.

Keep going back to this book for delicious, nutritious and weight losing recipes. Just look at back cover and select your greatest concerns, then flip to I,H or D burn daily plan, precook it all or most, eat and see the scale move downwards.

questo libro, a differenza del precedente (La Dieta del supermetabolismo), suggerisce periodi brevi e intensi di diete specifiche per avere risultati mirati e rapidi. Non sostituisce la pratica del fastmerabolism, semmai la integra. Come nel precedente libro, bisogna comprare tonnellate di verdure e dedicare un sacco di tempo a cucinare, ma almeno qui il tempo è limitato! Gli effetti ci sono! Interessante, utile
