Enjoyed finally seeing the movie. Great dancing.

Great dvd movie of footloose

Great Entertainment. Just so much fun to watch again and again. Makes you want to dance.

I grew up in the eighties, but I was born about the time the eighties started, so I don't think this particular movie was one that I grew up watching because I was too young. No matter. I came to find it one day on HBO or something and fell in love with it. Kevin Bacon is charming and so are the other fresh faced actors who were probably just getting their start. The parents acted their part with conviction and didn't seem embarrassed or uncomfortable playing a preacher and his wife and quoting scripture as the ones on the newer version seemed to. I only watched the newer version once and it was embarrassingly weak compared to the eighties version. Amazon does sell the two movie versions package for a deal, but I didn't even want the newer version in my collection. The original will suffice. It's great and heartfelt, with a mix of religion splashed in. I think the kids respected the religious aspect of their day, it was just that as teenagers, they wanted to be able to explore and live the other parts of their world and it was nothing evil or nothing that most teenagers haven't done. They just wanted to dance and dance they did!

Favorite movie.

A classic movie and got a hankering to watch it recently. Just wish it was free!

Exceptional movie which made Kevin Bacon a star and in an interview as an extra Bacon relates that this movie is one that people ask him about. Bacon comes to a small town with his mother, finds out that dancing has been banned. Prom is coming up. He befriends Lori Singer the daughter of minister John Lithgow who doesn't want dancing, great scene where some of his "flock" burn books and he stops them. Singer is very antagonistic to her father. Great scene where Bacon teaches Chris Penn to dance. Another great scene where Bacon races some of another gang on tractors. Sarah Jessica Parker has a small role as one of Singer's friends. Excellent background music, footloose, Kenny Loggins and Let's Hear it for the Boy. Bacon and his friends get permission from city council for dance and they fix up a warehouse. Great dance sequence where Bacon dances and uses gymnastics. Bacon confronts some teenage enemies and announces to everyone, Let's Dance, sequence is terrific. Great movie with Bacon demonstrating charisma that made him a star. Excellent extras with interviews from the cast. Highly recommended.
