Hoffman 14452 Volcanic Lava Rock, 2 Quarts

I bought these Lava Rocks for my Bonsai Plants and they are very good, then I went to Walmart and seen Lava rocks in 40lb bags for under $5 dollars...I got Corn-holed.

Helps to gradually water plants and looks great on soil in terracotta pots

The media could not be loaded. I placed the lava rocks under my aqua soil in the far back corners of the aquarium and it helped filtered my water and plants are growing wild. I recommend rinsing the lava rocks before placing into the aquarium. It if used for regular planted pot you don’t have to rinse them.

Was not large enough looking for larger pieces did well burning though

I have looked high and low for volcanic rock. I was so happy when I received my order. The rock was exactly the size I was looking for. I use it in my aquarium filter to grow healthy bio organisms so that my fish can enjoy a well balanced, clean, healthy home. I've seen other volcanic rocks in the big box home improvement stores, but what they were offering was more of a size one would expect to use in large pond filtration units. Needless to say, my fish are doing quite well in their new home with clean clear water. I recommend using this product for bio mass filtration in their aquarium filtration system. Great customer service too. Product arrived on time. 10 stars for this vendor.

Starting a new bonsai using a left over Christmas tree (Norfolk Pine). Needed something to divert the water from eroding the light soil material away. It is perfect and holds moisture to help.

Just what I was looking for. One bag was enough to create cover for three small and two medium sized pots. It immediately stopped my cats from playing in the dirt of my potted plants. And it looks great, too.

This is my 3rd purchase of the same brand lava rocks, same packaging. With my past purchases, the size of the rocks was very uniform. When I opened the bag from my latest purchase, I discovered all possible sizes, ranging from a quarter of an inch to probably an inch and a half. This is very inconvenient as I now have to sort the rock based on the plant's size and break down the oversized ones. So, this brand seems to become lately a true 'black box'. Next time I might look into other brands.

Nice color, a bit bigger than expected but works well to top off soil. Keeps me from over watering bonsai

This product is good quality and a good value for the amount that you get. But the pieces are larger than I expected. I was looking for something to mix with Leca to fill in the smaller spaces, but the pieces are about the same size as Leca. I would recommend this product if your looking for a decorative topping. But not if you are looking for something the size of pumice or aquarium gravel.

Love this product, replaced the glass supplied with our fire table. Works better then the gass, and it looks alot better.

Great product

I bought these specific for plant’s& these state horticulture but the size of these are much too large for the medium size philodendrons I wanted to use them for. Of course I was missing with other stone & substrate but at over inch and half most were too large and unfortunately the bag will sit until I find I projects outside for it.
