I first discovered Rachel through her podcasts and I was so impressed by how much, truly useful, advice she was able to give in such an easy to follow manner. Her ebook on How To Design A Patio is just the same. She holds nothing back and seems to really want to help beginning designers create beautiful spaces. There are so many bonus links and additional information; everything is delivered with such generosity. There seemed to be a couple areas where a picture was missing, or the text would say, "see photo below", when it was above...but this is no big deal at all...especially when you consider just how much great information has been packed into this one ebook! I would highly recommend anything by Rachel as she is just so helpful and a born teacher. How To Design a Patio is worth more than the price, for sure.

I have my own garden and help friends out with garden design often. I can highly recommend this book to anyone wanting simple but very accurate advise about designing a new patio area. I love how Rachel explains the design process in a away that is easy to grasp. This book makes you feel like you can do it! I really like her emphasis on using simple shapes....it makes so much sense. So Rachel thanks for putting the book together you have done a great job!I have a plan to draw tomorrow and will be using my new knowledge:)

This information was just what I needed to push me in the right direction in designing my patio. I loved all of the sample designs with coordinating photos - very inspiring! Rachel does a wonderful job of showing how to simplify your design for the best overall function and visual appeal of your patio space. Thank you Rachel - I can't wait to get started on my patio!

Very helpful book with lots of ideas and advice. It is part of a series. I recommend the whole series, starting with How to Survey Your Garden.

DON'T Waste your money ,it's at best a check list of what to do, Not How To Do , and it contains no practical examples or designs

I was very sceptical about purchasing yet another book that teaches you "landscape design", however right from the start Rachel provides you with not only the important things to consider but also in which order to consider them.This theme continues right through the book, taking small but vital steps in the correct order and never letting doubts or constraints to get in your way.When challenges do arise, Rachel tells you exactly how to recognise them and where to push them to, so that your creative process is not impaired but yet those challenges are addressed and conquered.This book is geared to the beginner with step by step instructions using simple tools and techniques that anyone can master and use to produce stunning results.After reading this book I am confident that I can, and will, use these techniques in my own garden and after years of staring at it in bewilderment and trying and failing to come up with ideas or results, I can now design and produce an area that will be both practical and beautiful.Thank you Rachel you have truly inspired me.

Not much advice on the practical side of making a patio and pretty sketchy all around. However there are some good pointers and ideas, and this book does give an outline of project management skills and the process necessary for completing the project a hand.
