I got this for use as a nearly permanent attachment in an impact driver. This is the exact size (both sizes) nut driver needed for most of the fasteners used in HVAC, and as a dual function tool it saves a lot of time and hassle. Removing the socket will expose the magnetic end, allowing easy cleanout of the ferromagnetic debris that tends to build up in magnetic nut driver bits. It lives in my impact driver mainly for use in removing panels from the condenser assembly or air handler -- where removal of multiple screws is required. In the impact driver, it is a bit too short to get to some internal fasteners in a split system, such as the ones holding internal components like the capacitor strap, contactor, or transformer.

Very convenient. Clean out the magnetic holder every once and a while and it lasts. Quick change is great.

Malco makes great tools and most are made in the USA, but this Malco C-Rhex 1/4 & 5/16 SAE is made in Taiwan, hence the 4 stars. These are still a notch higher in quality than Klein's version and a lot easier to keep the magnets clean. I use these when I'm doing preventative maintenance on hvac systems. For the few extra bucks I find these to be worth it.
