Reliable, easy, safe. Its what you need
The Petzl GriGri is the most tried and true climbing belay device on the modern market. It's usable in most forms of climbing and makes it very easy even for beginners to learn good belay technique. Its widespread adoption speaks to its proven performance in real-world situations. The cam lock is smooth and grabs every time you need it to, but slides freely when you need to feed slack. The brake release lever is solid and very responsive, obviously important. The build quality is to a very high standard and my first one lasted me a very long time before I retired it just to be safe. (It still worked as intended). If you're looking for a trusty climbing companion that will catch you when you fall, GriGri is the way to go!

Expensive, but worth it.
Climbing is a blast! And belaying a climber is a major skill needed for any type of climbing. Love my GriGri. It’s assisted braking is a nice upgrade, and it also gives a little added comfort to a nervous climber. Easy to use and sturdy. No issues. If not for the price, I’d probably get 2 or 3. (I have 3 ATC’s since they’re on the cheaper side) but a GriGri is a great purchase for any climber. Fun stuff.

Quality/easy to use
New to climbing. All indoor so far. For me this device is easy to use and gives me confidence in belaying someone.

Works as advertised.
Lightweight and easy to use. I've had it for quite some time now and am pleased with the quality. I use it indoors primarily. Very nice to have when the person you are belaying is working a route and hangs a lot or takes some good falls. Took me awhile to move to a grigri (old dog, new tricks) but am glad I did. Highly recommend.

This Grigri is an awesome ascending/descending device. Easy to use and even fun.

Classico Gri Gri
Ho comprato questo assicuratore subito dopo aver terminato il corso di arrampicata e lo uso quindi da circa un anno. Essendo un prodotto diffusissimo (anche al corso ci facevano usare questi) penso ci sia poco da dire: mi ci sono trovato bene, mi ha sempre permesso di assicurare bene e lo consiglio. È solido e in un anno di utilizzo intensivo non mi ha mai dato (per fortuna) problemi. Ovviamente deve essere utilizzato da persone che sanno arrampicare e che sono formate sul suo utilizzo. Per un principiante un po’ “impanicato” consiglio la nuova versione con funzione antipanico. Lo ricomprerei, naturalmente. Il 99% delle persone che incontro a scalare usano proprio questo modello.
